Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/26

February 26, 2015 – Man folks, this is getting ridiculous. It is 21 below zero this morning….stupid cold again!!! The sun is shining though:)

Nothing new to report for the trails. They remain in excellent condition. It is supposed to warm up for the weekend into the 20`s. I`m really ready for that!! Now for the rest of the story….

I finally got the facts and figures for our major break down. I want to give a special shout out to Groomer Gerald for taking the lead on this project. The others involved were Me and Groomers Mike,Dave M. and Dave F. It took 122 man hours to fix a $2.00 bolt that broke. Here`s what happened……We lost all hydraulics on the groomer including the drive. A bolt broke that holds the main hydraulic drive gear in place on the engine flywheel. We had to tear down the entire rear assembly including all 4 hydraulic pumps to get at it. We called the manufacturer to see if they could help. They told us they could send someone out in a few weeks or we could ship it to them in Colorado. That would mean we would lose it for the rest of the season. So we fixed it ourselves!!! Thanks crew, you are the best!!! Remember, these guys all have other jobs and or businesses to run. I think we have the best club in all of Michigan!!! Here`s a side note. Another club in our area blew a clutch on one of their groomers. They shipped it out and it cost the program (ie your trail sticker and registration money) $16,000.00. We cost you $2.00. Now what do you think??? Go to our “contact us” tab on top of this page and shoot me an e-mail on your thoughts. As Forest Gump would say…..and thats all I got to say about that. Groomer Chris

February 25, 2015

Just got back from grooming our south loop it turned out great someone had some great riding today because what I saw the trails are in fabulous shape. Currently we are grooming the falls trail (45) and Pine stump junction trail (8). I believe the new trail we are grooming is the unplowed portion of 412 this take you directly to Pine Stump Junction. So if your out and about watch out for groomers and give them room to work. Thanks and be safe riding.

February 25, 2015 – Well…..it looks like we`re not done with the negative numbers yet. It is 11 below zero this morning, DARN IT!! Looks like we got one more day of this junk too, then it is gonna warm up into the 20`s. The good news is we got about 4 inches of snow yesterday.

All groomers are runnin and the trails remain in excellent shape. I haven`t got the numbers on our major groomer break down yet. When I do I`ll let you know what happened. Nothing more to report. This weekend is gonna be nice so come on UP!

Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/25

February 25, 2015 – Conditions: EXCELLENT–Finally!!!!!!

Just got a call from our Trail Coordinator and he informed me it’s time to bump up our trail conditions rating. That’s the best news we’ve had all season. We’ve probablly picked up an additional inch or two since yesterday’s posting so it’s safe to say we have gotten 6-7 inches in the last 24 hours with lots of drifting.

February 24, 2015 – Trail Conditions: Good to Excellent

We are having an amazing snow storm right now. So far we have picked up 5-6 inches, maybe more. It’s hard to tell as the wind has been blowing it around causing near whiteout conditions. It started just before noon and came quickly. There has got to be some great riding out there today. The groomers are out there and have to be enjoying this new snow. Hope you can too.

There was quite a crowd at the Coyote Crossing/Boon Bonfire Memorial Event for Al Green–long time avid snowmobiler and our Trail Coordinator. We bought a new Dubie drag this year and dedicated it to Al. It was on display at Coyote Crossing yesterday (see picture belew). It was a beautiful day with lots of good stories to share among old friends and new. It was a day Al would have enjoyed.
