GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc.​ – Ran south trail 8, 88 and 443 with trainee Travis. Found trail a little bumpy and smoothed up pretty nice, there are a few dips in the trail from large water hole but with the fresh snow we are getting it should be no time until they can be filled. Did see 5 sleds out there this evening so the riders should be plentiful by the weekend. Groomer Will

Trail 89 WEST , IS full , and MOGUL FREE ! WE are addressing some water on the MAHONEY tr (Trail 8), between ADAMS tr , and closer to the GRADE , The new snow helped fill , and freeze … Overall this trail is ready to ride ! VERY SMOOTH ! ENJOY ! Groomer Ted

Trails are in better shape than we guessed, but still rated poor to fair due to a base of 1-8″ with most spots having a base of 4-6″ hard pack.

It was -12 in the groomer pulling into the barn at midnight (I had to work at 7am), water hazard frequency has been cut in half, mainly just the big holes and bigger drainage issues remain open.

Yes, if you come ride, you will see spots of mud. Our operator is shown plowing snow into a known mud hole to aid in freezing it up last night. If you’re dying to ride it is definitely worth it. Trail 160 remains closed and we’ll post more pictures throughout the day.
