ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> 03/19
Out riding with Mama Sledhead. Hit Trail #12 from White Pine to Greenland. I would rate it “very good” with the exception being the the 2 miles running the farm fields along HWY 38. The wind drifted snow across and it’s bumpy.
Having lunch at Boondock Inn in Twin Lakes.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> AM lake effect snow showers will diminish across the east, but additional snow showers will be possible this afternoon across the northern U.P. After warm and dry days Sunday and Monday, incoming rainfall is expected by late Monday afternoon. High temperatures will top off in the 40s and 50s by Sunday and Monday. ❄️ Friday, March 27th: Here’s a look at lakefront conditions in Ontonagon County. A band of lake effect snow moved in, dropping two inches in one hour.

I took a trip to Rhinelander and got a few pics of the trails along the way. There's no snow in Rhinelander and very little in Eagle River. Watersmeet looks bad and doesn't start looking good until Mass City.

➡️ Mixed weekday temperatures will make conditions vary, but Mud Season is creeping up on us.

Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. If you're heading north of M-55, a wintry mix will greet you. Snow totals of an inch, perhaps more will be possible, and a snow map will be out in a bit to showcase totals on a statewide basis. Meanwhile, summer is here temporarily as showers and storms move in by late afternoon south of Grand Rapids and Flint. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and even low-70s, especially south of I-94. More warmth means more fuel for storms though, so on a day like today, you should be rooting against warmer high temperatures to avoid severe weather. Speaking of temperatures, just an insane gradient from north to south. High temperatures in the low-20s for the Keweenaw Peninsula, while areas just south of the Michigan state line jump to near 80°F. Precipitation will start early up north, while southern Michigan doesn't start seeing shower activity until afternoon. More details to come in a bit on our severe weather, but the peak timing along and south of I-94 for severe weather will be after 3 pm EDT. Main severe weather hazard today will be very large hail, so it's probably a good idea to protect your valuables today if you're in the southern two rows of counties, just out of an abundance of caution. Bare with us today, it's a lot of information, but we've got you covered from beginning to end.
