Ontonagon Area Trail Report – 02/03

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Scott’s Superior Inn and Cabins >> 02/03

❄ Porcupine Mountains / Ontonagon Snow Report ❄

Winter is absolutely delivering right now. We’re over 160” for the season total so far.

We’ve measured 24 inches of fresh snow in just the last week and a half right on our deck, and conditions across the Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon area are shaping up to be the best snowmobiling and skiing we’ve seen in many years.

Snowmobile trails are well-covered with a solid base, riding smooth and fast thanks to consistent cold temps. Off-trail snow is deep, fluffy, and exactly what you hope for up here. For skiers — both downhill and Nordic — coverage is excellent, with beautiful natural snow and classic Lake Superior powder conditions.

📸 This photo shows exactly what’s fallen recently — and there’s even more in the woods.

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to make the trip north, this is it.

And if you’re looking for a warm, comfortable place to stay after a full day on the trails or slopes, Scott’s Superior Inn & Cabins is right here in Ontonagon — rider- and skier-friendly, close to the trails, and the perfect home base for conditions like this.

These are the kind of winters people remember. Don’t miss it.
