SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/04

3/4/25
Hello all! We will not have groomers out today due to warm temps and possible rain. As of right now, we are supposed to receive a few inches of snow tomorrow. We will keep you posted!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/03

3/3/25
Good evening!
I have some mixed news, as is usually the case this time of the year. I took a ride down 49 from the Soo to Kinross to see our friends at The Well Diggers Ass. Also hit 472 to 494 around the airport in Kinross.

The city trails, trail 49 to 9 mile, and trail 8 were excellent with lots of base and snow coverage. 49 gets thin south of 9, with dirt patches showing in the parts where the sun hit.

Definitely could have used scratchers too. I was running hot. 472 and 494 haven’t been groomed due to a couple of calls ins and warm temps, so they are rough. We’ll do what we can as soon as we can.

Everything is totally rideable, but know that roads are bare again so trails that have sections along the road like 49 south have tricky sections.

There is snow in the forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday, so we’ll see how it shakes out.

Spring riding conditions are here, especially south of the Soo.
I’ll keep you updated!

Gorgeous sunset tonight, so I thought I’d share🌅

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/28/26
Good morning everyone!
While we certainly didn’t need the warm and sun yesterday, our hard working volunteers were itching to go as soon as temps dropped.
Our first report comes from Warren-
“We went out at 1 AM. Club member Steve & myself at 27 degrees did 480 from the Spile Dam turnaround, and 8 all the way to Brimley and back as well as the electric lines. I think everybody’s gonna be real happy with that, it cleaned up really well. I finished up at about 19° and then left the Groomer for turbo. Turbo is gonna hit the 889 loop and Brimley grade so I think everybody will be ready to go by about 7:30 - 8 o’clock for all of our trails out this way.”
Thank you, Warren & Steve!!❄️❄️❄️
Trail 8 from the Soo to Brimley will be done tonight, the city trails were done yesterday, and will be done again tomorrow night. I’ll update when I hear from the Kinross crew as well, but I know that everything was done on Thursday ahead of the warm up.
Be safe all and enjoy!
Hope to see some of you at the Radar Run at The Cozy Corners Barbeau MI today! The fun starts at noon! See their page for more info! #soo #soo0228 #snowphotos

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/25/26
Good morning all!
We didn’t end up with as much new snow as we wanted out of the system, but lake effect is lingering a bit. I show about 4” of new snow here in the Soo. It looks like just west us (Brimley/Raco) got a little more.
Once operators are out rolling and send me updates, I’ll be sure to share!
Thank you! #soo #soo0225 #snowphotos2/25/26

Sault Ste. Marie Area Trail Report – 03/02

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/02

3/2/25
Good morning! The city trails groomed up nicely overnight. Trails 49, 449, 8 from South Street to Ashmun Bay, the high school trail, and the courtesy trails to Don Dee Lanes and also to the Holiday Inn are all in excellent shape with a crazy base. It was awesome to see Kewadin Casino back open, with several sleds in thier lot along with many other patrons.

We saw pretty minimal traffic, and the temp was 4 degrees when we rolled in around 1 AM so they should set up nicely.

Groomer Dan is hitting 8 from the Soo to Brimley as well, so that should be a nice ride this morning.

We hope you get to enjoy our efforts! As a reminder, we are on Groomer Tracker, and you can tip the groomers if you’re so inclined. We appreciate your support! ❄️❄️❄️
