Gaylord Area Trail Report – 12/30

Trails are in very good condition since the recent snowfall, and there’s more on the way! Grooming is underway, but be sure to watch for large drifts in the areas the groomers haven’t made it to yet. We had a few days of freezing rain that packed down a solid base, so there could be icy patches under the fresh snowfall.
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there is a logging operation near Turtle Lake Road and Douglas Lake Road – the logging trucks are using the trail as a road. The trails are passable, but they’re in poor shape. Proceed with caution in these areas.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Bridge Run with Big John and his crew. What a beautiful morning to run to Mackinaw and lunch at the Key Hole. 18 degrees in Frederic and the winds and snow have slowed up and roads and trails look good. So I am closed today, find me on the trail to the bridge. Still not many riders around but I expect it to start getting busier tommorow. All pics below were over at the swamp yesterday (monday). Thanks for checking in and please ride safely. For those of you that need trail permits the gas station next to Frederic Inn has permits. Will try to do live video somewhere on trip along with a stop at Sledview.com camera. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> That's a Wrap on the 25-26 Sled Season - Well here we are up to March 31, 2026 and the end of the season with more snow that we have seen in a long , long time. Still alot to melt off here in Frederic, Piles were huge and so very rock hard its still gonna take them a while to melt down. The good thing about all the snow was that it spread the riders out all thru the state which made for a much safer season. Even with that there were still 12 deaths with only 4 in the lower and the rest in the u.p. In looking at the sledview camera north of Gayord the trail is still covered with snow... #gaylord #snowphotos
