KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> Have you called it “quits”?! Summarized the sled and started preparing the spring/summer season toys? OR do you still have plans to ride yet?!
It’s really hard to say the “official 2025/26” snowmobile season has ended….. so we will only say grooming operations have ended and gates on trails crossing private land will be locked as of 4/1/26.
With the upcoming forecast ❄️🩵 and trails still being in excellent 🤩 condition, it should be noted for those that still want to ride… You CAN!
❌ Private land leases end and gates will close on 4/1/26
❌Portage Lake Lift Bridge gates will close on 4/1/26
🟢 Trails on state land do not “close” but be aware you could encounter ORV’s on these trails. For detailed information please check the DNR interactive maps
🟢 Trail 3 from Lake Linden to Hancock can be ridden at any time of the year
🟢 Trail 17 from Calumet to Hancock can be ridden at any time of the year
🟢 Trail 3 running south out of Houghton to Mass City area can be ridden at any time
Please respect private land owner rights. We can't have a trail system without their support.
The Keweenaw Snowmobile Club Last Groomed:
✅3 from Calumet to Copper Harbor
✅ 134
The night before, the club groomed:
3,17,122,130,132,132w,133,134,135,151,152
Plenty of great riding to still be done! Nikki McGill is officially calling it quits on her season and just left the Keweenaw! Nikki said, “Wow! What a great last snowmobile trip of the season ❄️❄️ 🩵 Wrapped up the season last weekend with 4 days of flat & fast trails, and ended the last day with the Vintage Snowmobile Run For Fun Fundraiser for the Valley Sno Drifters🛷
Total of 2000 miles this season on my sled, with 6500 miles on it now 😬
Officially put a fork 🍴 in it!!
What a fun season with trail riding, along with a great race season and a win @ Chetek Winter Fest. 🏁🏁

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The Lakeshack >> After today it’s the start of spring rides
Well most trails close after today, Trail 3 is open all year and there’s plenty of snow left in these parts
It’s kinda sad dayfor trail riders especially since reports from Toivola north trails are reporting excellent conditions and a snowstorm in the forecast!
But gates will be locked up till next season
Personally right now starts my favorite rides of the year
Warm temps(sometimes tee shirt weather) but the beauty of the creeks and waterfalls are gorgeous!
I’m sure I’ll be sharing pictures for another month and will post here so y’all can ride vicariously through me!
It’s been a great winter
I’m pretty sure this will be my last season of riding with my battle with ALS
My body is giving up on me but not my spirit so stay tuned, ya never know
Check out my live cam and see the snowpack melt and maybe grow as the forecast is looking interesting

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The Lakeshack >> Still feels like winter here in Twin Lakes!
Just 5 days left in the snowmobile trail season but off trail rides should last quite awhile here with the snowpack we have
And it’s coming down pretty good this morning
20 miles south is basically dirt but Mass City to Copper Harbor has plenty of snow and the Keweenaw snowmobile club is still grooming from Toivola north to Copper Harbor and reports have been great
The Superior snowmobile club has finished grooming early this year so extremely bumpy from Toivola and south
If your a snow lover like me, get up here now for a trail ride otherwise spring off trail rides are the best and ya have at least a month left for that

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Good morning everyone. Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. ... #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyGood morning everyone. Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. If you're heading north of M-55, a wintry mix will greet you. Snow totals of an inch, perhaps more will be possible, and a snow map will be out in a bit to showcase totals on a statewide basis. Meanwhile, summer is here temporarily as showers and storms move in by late afternoon south of Grand Rapids and Flint. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and even low-70s, especially south of I-94. More warmth means more fuel for storms though, so on a day like today, you should be rooting against warmer high temperatures to avoid severe weather. Speaking of temperatures, just an insane gradient from north to south. High temperatures in the low-20s for the Keweenaw Peninsula, while areas just south of the Michigan state line jump to near 80°F. Precipitation will start early up north, while southern Michigan doesn't start seeing shower activity until afternoon. More details to come in a bit on our severe weather, but the peak timing along and south of I-94 for severe weather will be after 3 pm EDT. Main severe weather hazard today will be very large hail, so it's probably a good idea to protect your valuables today if you're in the southern two rows of counties, just out of an abundance of caution. Bare with us today, it's a lot of information, but we've got you covered from beginning to end.
If you're new to Michigan Storm Chasers, follow us on Facebook, YouTube, X, or Twitch TV, for live severe weather coverage once the first warning is issued in the state.
