TRAIL REPORT February 14, 2022
GREAT RIDING CONDITIONS!
Light new snow and a hard flat base have the trail system in an overall very good condition. The cold weather really has the trails holding flat through the day. We did have a groomer structural failure last night so ride with caution on Trail 7 heading toward Christmas (see warning below). We will be down a machine for a day but other than that all is good so get out and enjoy some really nice riding conditions.

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails –
Lake effect snow from over the weekend sure has helped the trail. Super cold temps tonight should help it set up tight. Trail will improve with the next couple of grooms. We could still use more snow, but you won’t be disappointed with what we have! Ride right and ride safe.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Skies will partially clear this evening behind a departing cold front. Another system passing to the north will then bring a slight chance of rain/snow late tonight, mainly in the west and north-central UP. Although details remain a little uncertain at this time, the best potential for accumulating snow will be across the U.P., while a wintry mix is more likely across portions of northern lower Michigan. Farther south, expect all rain. WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! We do more than just track storms. With our degreed meteorologists on staff, we also have our own in-house forecasts releasing every day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, for our warm-weather enjoyers up north, this forecast is not for you.
Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
