TRAIL REPORT March 28,2022
A BIT MORE IMPROVEMENT!
A few more inches of fresh snow and cold temperatures allowed for more productive grooming yesterday. Trail 8 from Shingleton West to Trail 7 North up to Trail 418 was groomed with Operator Brian reporting a fair to good condition. Still watch for a few water holes. There is very dirty, gravely snow along roadways near towns. Trail 7 South toward Buckhorn has bare section in the open areas. The Bully ran for 7 miles North of Shingleton yesterday with fair to good results. Operator Keith reported a few small water holes and gravel patches in open areas closer to Shingleton but overall pretty good. For now operations will be very limited as we close out the season over the next few days. Ride to the Right, watch for groomers and Stay Tuned for updates!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> After light snow wraps up this evening, expect partially clearing skies overnight while temperatures fall back mainly into the 20s. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> AM lake effect snow showers will diminish across the east, but additional snow showers will be possible this afternoon across the northern U.P. After warm and dry days Sunday and Monday, incoming rainfall is expected by late Monday afternoon. High temperatures will top off in the 40s and 50s by Sunday and Monday. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Short run today to make sure our east end is smooth and conditions couldn’t be better. Possibly making one more full run before the end of season to make sure we are right on track to finish the season out. Reports have been coming in that the trail is pretty smooth. Grooming will end, but the entire trail will be open through the 31st. Private land closes across the state on the 1st of April, so feel free to keep riding, but please respect private property as land use permits do not allow clubs to keep the trail open. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos

Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. If you're heading north of M-55, a wintry mix will greet you. Snow totals of an inch, perhaps more will be possible, and a snow map will be out in a bit to showcase totals on a statewide basis. Meanwhile, summer is here temporarily as showers and storms move in by late afternoon south of Grand Rapids and Flint. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and even low-70s, especially south of I-94. More warmth means more fuel for storms though, so on a day like today, you should be rooting against warmer high temperatures to avoid severe weather. Speaking of temperatures, just an insane gradient from north to south. High temperatures in the low-20s for the Keweenaw Peninsula, while areas just south of the Michigan state line jump to near 80°F. Precipitation will start early up north, while southern Michigan doesn't start seeing shower activity until afternoon. More details to come in a bit on our severe weather, but the peak timing along and south of I-94 for severe weather will be after 3 pm EDT. Main severe weather hazard today will be very large hail, so it's probably a good idea to protect your valuables today if you're in the southern two rows of counties, just out of an abundance of caution.
