Munising Area Trail Report – 02/26
TRAIL REPORT February 26, 2022
GOOD RIDING CONDITIONS CONTINUE!
Still no real changes. Trails are in an overall good to very good condition with no new snow. Operators were reporting very good results with some areas setting very good. Primarily our trails east of M94 are in very good condition, to the West of that good condition. Trails are expected to get choppy throughout the day. There is a Poker Run coming in from Grand Marais today so Trail 8 North of Shingleton is also expected to get moguled out early. Operators are doing what they can with the tools at hand as we anxiously await the return of our Big John Deere. Not sure of the current status but we did have a weld break on the Program machine ‘s groomer so that is also currently down. Get out and enjoy the trails and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 2/25
Todd made the run last night with great results. Trails will take a beating this weekend and will get rough through the day. Temps will be up on Saturday, so that won’t help either. We will do what we can to keep them smooth. Corners are taking a beating this year. Please stop blowing out the corners. It takes a lot of snow and effort to get corners back in shape. It cannot be done in 2 passes. Ride right and ride safe!

GWINN AREA UPDATE via Forsyth Snowmobile and ATV Club >> Trail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Our town is in need of snow, took a ride East over towards Alger County and they definitely have more snow over that way. Buckhorn area was smooth all the way down south and across over to Big Springs area. Big Springs area north had some small rocks on the trail and once we got by the Jack Pine Trails were good again. Came through shingleton and quite the snow storm at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the snow didn't come to our town. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Lake effect snow showers will continue in the northwest wind snowbelts this morning and then begin to shift north and offshore this afternoon into the evening as winds become southwesterly. Additional snowfall of up to an inch in the west and 1 to 3 inches in the east can be expected. Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise.
