TRAIL REPORT March 3, 2022
Great Trails but Trouble Again!
Trails in an overall good to very good condition. Operators were reporting very good results with our trails primarily in very good condition east of M94. The west side Trails are in very good to good condition. Trail 7 South of Buckhorn was not groomed last night due to our Pisten Bully going down again. A casting on the cooling fan clutch broke again. It will be down for at least 2 days. Hopefully parts arrive before the weekend, otherwise….. We will do what we can with the Programs Spare Bully and our club owned John Deere 7130. As far as the Big Deere still awaiting a return delivery date. Lets hope the great trail conditions don’t drop off too quickly. Ride to the Right and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/2
Trails are holding up very well! Base is thin on the west end by Little Lake so we will see some deterioration on sunny days now that the sun is up longer. Looks like a little more snow due today and Saturday, so we should expect very good trails until a brief warmup on Sunday. Ride right and ride safe!

GWINN AREA UPDATE via Forsyth Snowmobile and ATV Club >> Trail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Our town is in need of snow, took a ride East over towards Alger County and they definitely have more snow over that way. Buckhorn area was smooth all the way down south and across over to Big Springs area. Big Springs area north had some small rocks on the trail and once we got by the Jack Pine Trails were good again. Came through shingleton and quite the snow storm at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the snow didn't come to our town. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Lake effect snow showers will continue in the northwest wind snowbelts this morning and then begin to shift north and offshore this afternoon into the evening as winds become southwesterly. Additional snowfall of up to an inch in the west and 1 to 3 inches in the east can be expected. Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise.
