Munising Area Trail Report – 01/19
TRAIL REPORT, Thursday, January 19, 2023 7:30 a.m.
NO SNOW YET BUT STORM FORECAST!
A majority of our trail system was groomed last night in preparation for the expected new snow. Winter Storm Warning Forecast amounts are all over the place but expecting about 6 inches accumulation, lets hope it is a lot more. As of right now no new snow falling with the main trails having fair snow cover and are flat. Keep a close eye on conditions as you ride and stay right. We have hazardous water holes on Trail 418 so ride and cross with extreme caution (Map in images showing locations). Stay tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 01/18
With cooler Temps tonight, we are out grooming. Trail got a little beat up during the warm up and all the rain. Tomorrow, Thursday the 19th, we are expecting anywhere from 6" to 12" of fresh wet snow. This is a good thing for all of us. The next couple of weeks, the Temps look like they will stay below freezing. Let’s hope they do. We will be grooming every night we can, as long as the Temps stay cool, and we have a person to put in the operators seat. Might even get a new guy trained in soon. We will get a trail report from our operator in the morning. Ride right, have fun, and be safe out there.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> After light snow wraps up this evening, expect partially clearing skies overnight while temperatures fall back mainly into the 20s. After warm and dry days Sunday and Monday, incoming rainfall is expected by late Monday afternoon. High temperatures will top off in the 40s and 50s by Sunday and Monday. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Short run today to make sure our east end is smooth and conditions couldn’t be better. Possibly making one more full run before the end of season to make sure we are right on track to finish the season out. Reports have been coming in that the trail is pretty smooth. Grooming will end, but the entire trail will be open through the 31st. Private land closes across the state on the 1st of April, so feel free to keep riding, but please respect private property as land use permits do not allow clubs to keep the trail open. Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. If you're heading north of M-55, a wintry mix will greet you. Snow totals of an inch, perhaps more will be possible, and a snow map will be out in a bit to showcase totals on a statewide basis. Meanwhile, summer is here temporarily as showers and storms move in by late afternoon south of Grand Rapids and Flint. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and even low-70s, especially south of I-94. More warmth means more fuel for storms though, so on a day like today, you should be rooting against warmer high temperatures to avoid severe weather. Speaking of temperatures, just an insane gradient from north to south. High temperatures in the low-20s for the Keweenaw Peninsula, while areas just south of the Michigan state line jump to near 80°F. Precipitation will start early up north, while southern Michigan doesn't start seeing shower activity until afternoon. More details to come in a bit on our severe weather, but the peak timing along and south of I-94 for severe weather will be after 3 pm EDT. Main severe weather hazard today will be very large hail, so it's probably a good idea to protect your valuables today if you're in the southern two rows of counties, just out of an abundance of caution.
