MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – March 28, 2019

The last days of the season are upon us! Trail is flat and hard with some wet and soft grainy snow on top. More than enough for cooling! Road crossings are bare and some areas are starting to peek through to a little dirt. This is your last chance to ride before April 1st!

An early blast of fall after last night’s cold front will keep temperatures down the next few days. Tomorrow, areas downwind of Lake Superior will see mostly cloudy skies at times and a slight chance for light lake-effect rain. Otherwise, there is a chance for frost tomorrow night in the interior west and locally cold spots. ... See MoreSee Less

Colder, drier air working south across the Great Lakes today will bring the start of a brief taste of fall! The arrival of this cooler air will also bring gusty northwest winds, which will result in a moderate swim risk this afternoon for Alger County beaches along the Lake Superior shoreline. The strongest winds are expected over land, in northwest and eastern Upper Michigan, where gusts approaching 25 to 30 mph are expected later today. ... See MoreSee Less

WARM DAY – STILL GROOMING!
Overall very good late season trails. Saturday was a very warm day and trails were getting soft and a little choppy as the days riding progressed. Grooming still scheduled. Details here: www.algersorva.com/trailreport/3-24-2019/

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – March 23, 2019

Well, the trail is over all in great shape. With the exception of a few water holes, and tonight I found a sink hole. I fear we won’t be able to groom much longer. Temps will be warm again this coming week. The sink hole wasn’t there when I first went through, and it was the weight of the tractor that broke it free. It was a 2′ deep hole. I was able to fill it in, however there was water in the bottom and it most likely won’t hold. This will most likely be the last weekend of smooth trails from us. We will talk more about it, and may try one more time yet and see what happens. Be aware of the trail ahead of you if you go out riding this weekend as the water holes could make a great day bad. Ride right and stay safe.
