Munising Area Trail Report – 12/23

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 12/23

IT’S RAINING! πŸ™
No good news with rain today. Forecast is calling for snow Christmas Eve with Santa hopefully bringing us a good amount. Honestly there is nothing to work with right now needing 6 inches of snow to be able to do anything productive.
For now all our program machines are ready and waiting. We have also been wrapping up work on our club owned John Deere 7130. Brian is putting the finishing touches on its old drag installing new wiring and led lights. Terry has also been out fixing railings on a bridge in Shingleton. Thanks to all the crew that has been out working hard in the shop and on the trails these last few days.
Again that’s it for now so lets dance for our Heikki Lunta Snow God and hope for the best. Stay tuned as the rideable season hopefully gets started soon. Detailed Trail Report here: https://www.algersorva.com/trailreport/12-23-2020/

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> I'm going up north to the U.P of Michigan on Friday to chase a potentially significant lake effect snow event from late Saturday night through Tuesday. Snowfall accumulations could be 1-2', if not higher, as high-res model guidance comes in when we get closer.
Another lake-effect snow event is increasingly likely behind an arctic front next Wednesday night through Friday, which we will need to keep an eye on. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyI'm going up north to the U.P of Michigan on Friday to chase a potentially significant lake effect snow event from late Saturday night through Tuesday. A picture is worth a thousand words. Videos even more so.
We have talked to many snowmobilers who have been happy with the early season riding given the minimal snow we have on the ground after that last meltdown.
We have a great staff of groomer operators and several new ones this year.
People are stepping up and getting involved. We appreciate everyone support. #munising #snowphotosTrail Report Posted

GWINN AREA UPDATE via Forsyth Snowmobile and ATV Club >> Trail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Our town is in need of snow, took a ride East over towards Alger County and they definitely have more snow over that way. Buckhorn area was smooth all the way down south and across over to Big Springs area. Big Springs area north had some small rocks on the trail and once we got by the Jack Pine Trails were good again. Came through shingleton and quite the snow storm at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the snow didn't come to our town. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA –

Trail Report Sunday, 12/20/2020
WE NEED SNOW! No good news for snowmobilers. Yesterday was a damp day with freezing drizzle and the little snow we have trying to keep the ground white. We really need a substantial amount of snow before groomer tractors can get out and do anything. For now we have been working around the shop getting our club owned John Deere 7130 set-up for winter work. Thank to EJ’s Dine or Dash for bringing an excellent lunch out to us yesterday. The crew has also finished repairing the bridge railing damage in Autrain on trail 418 – thanks Chuck, Bill and Dave! That’s it for now so lets dance for our Heikki Lunta Snow God and hope for the best. Full Trail Report here:

We have talked to many snowmobilers who have been happy with the early season riding given the minimal snow we have on the ground after that last meltdown.
We have a great staff of groomer operators and several new ones this year.
