MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 03/01
TRAIL REPORT – Monday, 3-1-2021 FAIR TRAIL CONDITIONS!
Late season riding conditions for sure with most of our trail system still groomable. We received about an inch or so of visible new snow on top of a mess made from a few days of warm sunny weather. Our Trail System is in Overall Fair Condition with some areas in now un-groomable poor condition. We are currently seeing on and off Lake Effect snow bands passing through which should help those sections of trail still holding on. Trail 8 from Shinleton West to Trail 417, Trail 417 to Brownstone Intersection and Trail 7 from 2 miles South of Christmas South to Buckhorn Road are in Fair condition. Trail 8 from Shingleton North for about 5 miles, Trail 7 South of Doe lake Road and Trail 419 from Wetmore to about 2 miles Northwest of Munising are in poor condition and un-groomable. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. With Trail 8 just North of Shingleton being as bad as it is we most likely did our last run helping neighbors to the East. This was done last night grooming East on Trail 8 from the Bear Trap intersection to the Trail 43 intersection with decent late season results. Keep snow dancing, get out and ENJOY what is left of the Trails, Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/28
TRAIL REPORT – Sunday, 2-28-2021 GOOD TRAILS – GROOMING CHALLENGE! No new snow with Operators reporting fair grooming results for some good, yet early, late season riding conditions. Our Trail System in in Overall Good to Fair condition, staying fairly flat through the day with little chop developing and some icy corners. The warm sunny weather Saturday hit Trail 8 hard from Shingleton North for about 5 miles, it is in fair condition with bare patches, thin and very dirty snow. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. We continue to Help our Neighbors to the East, grooming East on Trail 8 from the Bear Trap intersection to the Trail 43 intersection. Again decent grooming results and on the return trip we covered bare spots best we could on our section of Trail 8 closer to Shingleton. Grooming was a challenge with temps just below freezing and very high humidity. Snow would process ok with light cutting but every now and then we would find a warmer, wetter section of trail that would want to ball up and plug the groomer. In the end results were pretty good but it almost feels like season end conditions a few weeks early. Snow forecast for tomorrow so lets hope it is enough to buy us another few weeks of riding. Keep snow dancing, get out and ENJOY the Trails, Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates!
Update 9:10 am – Trail 7 south of Doe Lake Road has also taken a hit similar to Trail 8 North of Shingleton, bare and icy corners with bare sections further south toward CR440.
Be sure to patronize and thank your Trail Sponsors!
