MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/25
TRAILREPORT – Thursday, 2-25-2021 HANGING ON WITH NO IMPROVEMENTS! Pretty much a repeat report today. We received a few inches of snow in the morning yesterday with Operators reporting fair grooming results. Our Trail System in in Overall Good condition, staying fairly flat through the day with little chop developing and some icy corners developing. The trails are soft and not setting after grooming due to the warm weather and tired snow. Ride with caution. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. Trail 8 from Shingleton to Trail 7 South is the highest used section of trail with snow sugary along that stretch. The trails are hanging on for some really good riding – but barely. Yesterday work was completed on the JD 7130 fuel tank bracket repair and front track groove cutting. The modification will be tested tonight when grooming the hills of Trail 419 resumes. Please respect residential property owners and STAY ON THE TRAIL, No Snowmobile Signs mean just that. Please DO NOT run the Powerlines off of Trail 419. Our Team of volunteer Groomer Operators will continue to do their best to keep trails flat. Keep snow dancing, get out and ENJOY the Trails, Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 02/25
A good stiff wind on Wednesday stacked up a lot of drifts on the side of the trail, we were able to add several inches to our base in many spots. Overall things are looking pretty good for Thursday.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> It will be warmer today with highs in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Light snow is possible south of an Iron Mountain to Escanaba line but any accumulation will be very light. GWINN AREA UPDATE via Forsyth Snowmobile and ATV Club >> Trail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Our town is in need of snow, took a ride East over towards Alger County and they definitely have more snow over that way. Buckhorn area was smooth all the way down south and across over to Big Springs area. Big Springs area north had some small rocks on the trail and once we got by the Jack Pine Trails were good again. Came through shingleton and quite the snow storm at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the snow didn't come to our town. Additional snowfall of up to an inch in the west and 1 to 3 inches in the east can be expected. WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Here is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.
Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. Then a transition over to lake effect snow over the west to northwest wind snowbelts. 3 to 7 inches of snowfall over the east tonight into Sunday morning.

A change over to lake effect snow is expected in the NW wind snow belts Saturday afternoon, lingering into Sunday.
