NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 01/22
I’ve been getting alot of weather questions for this week / weekend
If it was me I wouldn’t cancel my trip to the area. South won’t be very good if we get a some rain and a warm up.
To the north there is alot more snow and the trails are good.
Worse case stay in Newberry and trailer north to ride.
We have a large area for parking and there is the staging area up the road as well.
If something crazy happens I will post a picture. Right now it should just help set up a base to the north.

LIONS WIN!!!!!
Groomers have been running all our trails this weekend. Things are in good shape for the snow we have to work with. Its turning into sugar snow and higher traffic areas are getting a little snirty bit not bad.
Watch for logging on 498 just past 422 and also on 45 from 123 up the charcoal grade.

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> So we closed the gates today around town and on charcoal grade we also opened up the water way crossing the grade the falls gate and out to 3 mile on Trail 9 and also the ones on the south trail around town are closed sad day We truly appreciate each and everyone of you for spending time and money in our community can’t thank you enough so god willing we will see you in December  so for now think Spring  #newberry #snowphotos
