Newberry Area Trail Report – 12/23

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association – 12/23

Trail update 12/23/24
We ran from Pine Stump up to Holland Lake last night as well as 498 to the North Store and back to Newberry with both groomers Both are in good shape. Then we sent a groomer to Epoufette. There wasn’t a lot of snow but there’s a lot of vehicle tracks in the trail because of deer hunting that we wanted to get out before it warmed up.

There are a couple of down trees to watch out for. One is over by the Falls on 45. Another on 9 that couldn’t be pushed with the Tucker so we are going to take the tractor up there and chainsaw and get it out. It’s on the edge of the trail, b weut it needs to be off further so just take it slow.

We opened the gates at cr 500 but paradise has not opened their side. They did try but got a groomer stuck so they had to turn around. There still are a couple of water holes between 123 and skyline road to watch out for.

Slow down, Be safe and ride right.

Merry Christmas

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> It's noon here on Monday, January 12th, and this week does present a couple instances of lake effect snow throughout the week. As a preliminary first call for the entire week, we've displayed current odds at areas receiving more than 4" of snow based on data from medium range models, and the WPC.
Most of the lake effect snow for the UP will fall between Tuesday and Thursday, where much of the higher elevation areas along Lake Superior currently have a greater than 50% chance at 4" of snow by the end of the work week. For much of the LP, lake effect snow will be confined primarily to Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, especially AFTER Wednesday heading into Thursday. We are keeping an area of 1-20% across much of southern and central Michigan in the event wind shifts or passing clippers allow for extra accumulation, but the greatest chances for 4" will be in the far southwest corner, the thumb, or your typical lake effect zones across northern lower Michigan.
We have lake effect snow forecasts coming all week, along with other forecasts for other weather phenomena such as wind, rain, and perhaps mixed precipitation. Around 4 inches of snow last night. I see the groomers all made it out. I would guess the trails should freeze up flat now.
I would imagine it will be lower traffic during the week. It would be a pretty good week to ride if you can sneak away! #newberry #snowphotos

Newberry Trail Report – 12/20

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Halfway Lake Cottages, LLC – 12/20

Trail Update: 12/20/2024
17 degrees this morning with a chance of snow today. Most of the clubs have been out over the last couple of days grooming. Trails are in relatively good shape for the weekend.

TASA trail 9 from Newberry to Pine Stump was groomed Wednesday night. Trail 9 heading south out of town is thin and won’t be groomed until it sees more snow. The gates on trail 45 are still closed at CR 500 and also on the Paradise side. Paradise did make an attempt to open the gates yesterday but with the recent melt there is to much water in the swamp and were forced to leave them shut and turn around.

Grand Marais has groomed most of their system and reports are good.

Reports from Seney are their trails are a little thin. They can use more snow but rideable. Trail 43 to the north is a little thin in spots until you get up to Fox River Rd. North of that is in good shape. Trail 8 is in great shape. Trail 440 is in good shape.Trail 431 north of the park and ride is in good shape. 43 that goes down to 10 Curves Rd is being plowed because there are loggers down there working. The swamps and lakes aren’t frozen yet so don’t go on them. Trail 431 north out of Seney the swamp is not frozen yet. So don’t use that trail until you get up to the 440-431 split by the park and ride. Just ride trail 440 along M-77 for now.

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association – 12/19

Good Morning everyone. Its currently 16 degrees out. Temps finally cooled off and we were able to get back out grooming. We just ran up to Pine Stump last night. We also picked up about 4 inches if fresh lake affect in the north.

Don’t forget to follow us on groomer tracker.
