NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump 01/29
Went for a little ride today
It’s like riding in late March
Trail 9 towards wolf inn Had good and bad spots but rideable
Trail 8 going towards grand marais was pretty good needs a groom when it freezes up
Riding north along 407 is doable. crappy like it usually gets.
The two tracks and fire lanes are really good. The deer park dog race is this weekend so use caution from cr410 to Lake Superior
I put about 60 miles on quick. I’m going again tomorrow.
If you want to go fast and 200 miles a day not your time. If you want to cruise around and enjoy yourself give it some consideration.
We had heavy traffic this weekend. People commented they appreciate the pictures and updates and they decided to take a chance.

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> So we closed the gates today around town and on charcoal grade we also opened up the water way crossing the grade the falls gate and out to 3 mile on Trail 9 and also the ones on the south trail around town are closed sad day We truly appreciate each and everyone of you for spending time and money in our community can’t thank you enough so god willing we will see you in December  so for now think Spring  #newberry #snowphotos
