Very pleased with what we’re finding so far, lost some base, knew that, 10 miles out, 2 groups of 6 sleds from behind leaving town.
Squishing any water into the in the low spots into the snow, cool if you can go around and let them freeze up smooth, but now major damage at all and its been snowing since I left town.

UPDATE…..With all the calls and messages today after the warm day yesterday and the rain, here is how we faired here!!
First off two of my guests rode 80 miles this morning from here to Brimley and then up the 8 to the closed Paradise gate and back, they were very happy with the trails so far.
I just returned from taking videos at multiple trail crossings in our area, also took a Pic out my truck window of the current conditions here at the Clarke and also driving down M28. Now with that said, some low areas in trails where slush and water stood yesterday may not be froze yet today, the temp is 13 degrees right now and the feels like is minus 4. So things changed quick, its currently snowing lightly now.

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! We do more than just track storms. With our degreed meteorologists on staff, we also have our own in-house forecasts releasing every day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, for our warm-weather enjoyers up north, this forecast is not for you.
Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead. 34 degrees this morning with a light rain. I heard it raining most of the night too. My weather station lost signal so I don`t know how much rain we got but I can say enough. It looks like its gonna be on the warm side for the next couple days then cool off and maybe snow so its not over yet folks!!! Here`s what went on yesterday and whats gonna happen today on the trails......
The only trail we hit yesterday was trail #45 to the Falls. Groomer Patrick said it turned out good. Just talked to Da Boss and we decided we are gonna take the next couple days off and see what this weather does. The rain last night really put a damper on our plans. It looks like its gonna hit close to 50 tomorrow too. The good news is we still have a solid 2` on the ground so if we can get by the next few days we`ll still be good. It ain`t over till its over and we`ll keep going till it is!!!!

Temp bounced 26-29 all night.

30 degrees this morning under a partly cloudy sky. I saw 46 here yesterday at my place.....not good! I`m sure ya`ll are watching the weather as close as we are so you know whats UP. We still have plenty of snow on the ground but the roads are thawed and its tough getting around them. It looks like if we can get by this week it will cool off again late next week and maybe snow a little. Here`s whats been going on the last couple days on the trails.....
After all trails were run Tuesday all the operators reported them as good. We took yesterday off except groomer Mike ran an inspection run thru the south swamp. He said it was holding up good for now but on his way back there was some water showing up on top of the trail. Thats an early sign its on its way out. We are gonna run all trails today/tonight and see what we got. We run drags that work good in the warmer weather so we`ll keep going as long as the weather allows. Hopefully we can make it till the end of the season but it won`t be long before the swamps open up. Keep checking back and I`ll keep ya`ll informed.
