Newberry Trail Report – 12/31

December 29, 2017

Snowmobile trails are officially open. Cold temperatures up here which should help freeze wet areas and swamps.

North Trail #9 Trail is in good condition with about 2 feet of snow at Pine Stump. There is large water hole along the ditch on CR 407 between Pine Stump and Holland Staging area. Please do not ride thru the ditch until it freezes. Tried to groom thru there last night and the groomer got stuck.

Trail #45 This trail is in good condition and will be groomed to night to CR 500. The trail between CR 500 and the Falls has open water holes please be careful. We made it to the Falls last night with the groomer. There are dips on the trail closer to town because we have not had enough snow fall to help smooth out the trail.

South Trail #9/2 This trail has less snow and is in fair condition.

Newberry Trail Report – 12/25

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE 12/25 via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association – 5" of snow today and still falling, Merry Christmas!….

December 24, 2017

Snowmobile trails are officially open. All of our wet areas on all 3 trails are not open water but are very soft. We recommend that you do not ride over 45 mph on our trails due to the early season conditions. We need more snow to smooth out the trails. There is more snow to the north.

North Trail #9 There is a deep water hole between Co Rd 422 and School Bus Corner (Co Rd 455) which now has stop ahead and stop signs.

Trail #45 This trail has 4 wet areas that the club members are trying to fill with snow and freeze. The two worst spots are located 2 miles in from M-123 and the other area past Skyline Road. You will find stop ahead and stops signs at these 2 locations. This trail has a lot of dips because of the lack of snow. Please slow down on this trail due to the amount of rain we have received since September this trail has a lot of water. The gate at CR 500 is closed and will remain closed until we know that the swamp is safe to cross.

South Trail #9/2 This trail has the least amount of snow. No base

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Halfway Lake Cottages, LLC >> When they closed the doctors offices last night because of conditions then we woke to about 6 inches of snow on top of ice, Chris decided to stay home. He spent 5 hours plowing then we went for a ride. We took 9 to Pine Stump and back and it was an amazing ride minus the sleeping child riding with me! Oh how I miss seeing Tara and Stephen gilsdorf

You may have been one of the few groups I saw today. Pretty sure I saw you on 9 today. My favorite trail in Michigan but it has taken 5 of my helmets peaks this winter. I plan on doing some brushing this summer on 9.

we rode 9 saturday and sunday it was perfect, almost doesnt need groomed , 433 and 431 were in need and 440 needs closed down all together, most everything else could use it but not bad

TROUT LAKE AREA UPDATE via The Rail House-Trout Lake MI >> Mother Nature is a cruel mistress 😆 we received about 2" of fresh snow on top of the crust we got over the weekend. Areas North of M28 got more, as usual. The snow is there. The trails are flat. We have power 🔌 TASA is out grooming according to Groomer Tracker . we were up saturday and sunday, it was pretty good minus the icing on the face shield sunday

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> The wintry mix of heavy wet snow, sleet, freezing rain, and freezing drizzle continues tonight over the U.P. Another glaze of ice is expected over the southern and eastern portions of the U.P. into early Monday morning. The wet dense snow will transition to lighter and fluffy snow tonight.
