Newberry Trail Report – 12/27
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association – 12/27
Welcome back! The gates are open! There is about 6 inches locally around Newberry and maybe a tad more North.
The groomers went out yesterday afternoon with only the tractor to push aside brush hazards. We will go out tomorrow morning to pan it down. It is snowing currently and 2-4 inches expected with possible higher accumulations further north toward Lake Superior.
There is not much snow South so they will not be heading that direction as of yet. There are still some ruts from the summer activities so we will try to pack the snow that is currently out there down and freeze it in. It will take a little more snow to fill in some areas. If you are going out for a ride PLEASE DO SO WITH CAUTION DUE TO THE CONDITIONS AND THE GROOMERS WILL BE OUT. PLEASE DON’T ASSUME YOU ARE THE ONLY ONES OUT RIGHT NOW. Your safety is our priority!
Trial 45: We went north and pulled some snow into a few water spots and will let it freeze in and will go back North in a day or two. We have have been to the County Road 500 and to the swamp from both sides as far as we could go.
Trial 9: We went North to the Pine Stump with the tractor only to push aside brush hazards and will go again tomorrow with the drag to pan it down. There is open water between M-123 and 3 Mile. It is about 50-70 feet long and 8-12" deep. It is passable though. Hopefully this will freeze up overnight.
Looking into the early part of the week a couple of systems to roll through with snow possibly on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Northstore: Gas and snacks and rentals. Sunday – Thursday 9am to 9pm. Friday and Saturday 9am to 11pm
Pine Stump: Gas and Food. Take out or heated outdoor dining. 12pm to 8pm.
USE CAUTION: Water hole between 123 north and 3 Mile Rd. Outside of Newberry Trail 9.
Groomers will be panning today on the North Trail.
There are 2 logging operations on our trails. Falls trail just north of Laurel Lake and trail #9 south trail near McLeod Rd. There is only 2 inches on south trail. Ride safe…
