MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County Sorva – 2/22
TRAIL REPORT, Wednesday, February 22, 2023 6:30 a.m.
A FEW MORE INCHES OF FRESH SNOW AGAIN!
We had a few inches of snow fall overnight with conditions slowly improving. Overall most of our main trails are in a good condition. Dirty snow near towns with just a dusting of snow on pavement. Trails still have a few icy areas so be careful in the corners. On Trail 418 from just East of AuTrain West to Trail 417 South the base is icy and still a bit gravely. The remainder of our Trails have a hard, fairly flat base. The layer of sugary snow we have had is starting to improve with the fresh snowfall. It is snowing right now so conditions should continue to improve. Keep a close eye on trail conditions as you ride and stay right. Stay tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 2/20
Have 2 full service kits getting delivered overnight from Vermont. Knowing the UP, we expect to see them Wednesday. 🤣 With that being said, watch out for a big ol groomer on the trail today. Alger SORVA is sending the Bison down our trail during the day today to help us out. Remember that it is wider than our machine, so give him space! Sounds like snow this week, so we will be on the trail as soon as we are ready to roll out! Ride right and ride safe!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> We were able to get out for a short while last night. Trail is groomed from 417 to Rumley. Due to operator constraints, we were only able to make the partial run. It is an unfortunate reality we face as a volunteer organization. Between work and family obligations, we sometimes have small gaps in the schedule. Now that we have the trail set, we will be training in a couple more operators to help fill those gaps. A couple of our out of state operators will be back in the seat also! We are like every other club that does grooming. We are always looking for operators. If you have contacted us before and we didn’t get back to you, please feel free to reach out again. We didn’t forget about you. We just didnt have an opportunity to get you into training before the season ended. If anyone is interested in grooming, please send us a message! We will see what we can do to get you up in the seat!
Our repairs seem to have been successful and the snow is falling again! It does look like we have a small warm up coming soon, but it doesn’t look like it will stick around for any time. Sounds like results varied last night with a couple spots needing multiple passes to get back into rideable shape. It will definitely take a couple grooms with the hard base and fresh snow to get everything back to flat again. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Quieter weather settles in across the U.P. today as lingering snow showers tapering off this morning. A weak clipper system will bring another round of light snow tonight, but only expect another inch or so of accumulation in most locations. After another quiet day on Monday, another system brings a mix of rain and snow to the area on Tuesday. #miweather #keweenaw #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaQuieter weather settles in across the U.P. today as lingering snow showers tapering off this morning. A weak clipper system will bring another round of light snow tonight, but only expect another inch or so of accumulation in most locations. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Widespread snow will begin to spread west to east this morning while a heavier snowband looks to set up in the central UP this afternoon. Uncertainty still remains where this snowband will park, however, heavy snowfall rates will likely create difficult travel along US-41 from Delta to Marquette/Alger counties. Tonight, widespread snow transitions to lake effect snow for the north wind snowbelts.

No big changes for the UP, although a bit more snow is now forecast for the Keweenaw and central UP. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Munising Motor Sports >> Current situation on Friday January 9th!!! It's finally switched to snow, parking lot is slushy and wet. Accuweather is still calling for 6-10" of snow tomorrow into Sunday!!! Start doing your snow dances tonight!!!
