Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 02/24

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/24

Good evening all!

The very first report from our newest volunteer, Dennis P, in the Kinross area. This was maybe his 2nd run ever (?) and he’s doing a great job!

Here’s what he had to say after his run with his son Jason this morning on the Kinross east loop-

“The temperature in Kinross this morning started off at -17° so my co-pilot Jason & I waited until it warmed up to 0° to go out and groom Trails 494 & 49.

With 6-7” of fresh snow, the trails turned out excellent. We passed about 30 sleds today. It was nice to see how considerate everyone was & we appreciated all the waves & 👍”

Thank you Dennis & Jason for stepping up to help!

Looking awesome!❄️❄️❄️

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/31
Happy New Years Eve!
Snow is ongoing in our area. I show around 3-4” new snow in the Soo so far, reports in Brimley of at least 7” new snow.
A word of caution- we do not like to send groomers out during the day, but sometimes we do not have a choice. Kenny and Jim will be headed out to tackle 889 in the Bay Mills area around noon today. There are many trees down and heavy drifting. It will undoubtedly be a long run for them, and the main goal is to get things opened up.
Pat is out early south of Kinross on 494. 472 west to Tilson should also be done today. As a reminder, we cannot groom past Tilson Rd on 472 due to construction equipment.
Please be on the lookout for the groomers, and if you’re able to move small branches safely, we appreciate the help!
Subscribe to Groomer Tracker to see where the groomers are in real time.
Thank you! #soo

Harbor Springs Trail Report – 02/24

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 02/24

This winter has been a rollercoaster to say the least, tons of snow then super warm on repeat. For now we are back to snow! We got about 8-10” between Wednesday night & this morning.
We had all three groomers out last night and the trails look pretty good. The base is solid ice and the snow is fluffy so fingers crossed it holds up.

Ride safe, ride right, & ride sober.

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had all three groomers out last night & they sure did have their work cut out for them. Unfortunately with the amount of trees down we were unable to get through the entire trail system. It took one opperator four hours to make it only 8 miles. The only areas that didn’t get groomed was Trail 704 Melody Lane & Gregory Road, 71/710 Cross Village Loop, & the 710 Spur from Big Pine to Warwick Road.
The trails are in good shape & it’s a great day to get out and ride. Please use caution in the non groomed areas as there are likely trees down and big drifts. We are hoping to have someone available tonight to groom the remaning sections.
⚠️🪵 There is still an active logging operation on Trail 71 from Brutus road to the Alanson Trail intersection.
