Straits Area Trail Report – 03/10

Friday March 10.

Current trail conditions

We have received no new snow this week. Trails have froze up with cool night temps and there is a good base in many areas between trout lake and cut river. We just groomed to cut river, the caffey and headed to trout lake now. Anything south of the berma grade to St Ignace is shot.

You can ride in and out of Cut river and Trout lake from the south ok. Just expect spring conditions that go from excellent to bare spots with plenty of nice areas of riding once you get in the woods. These conditions should hold for a few days.

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 03/10

We did a Full groom end to end Thursday night. From the east end to Chatham the trail is still in good condition. From Chatham to Eben the snow is getting thin in several areas and the road crossings and short stretches of road are pretty much dirt. Eben to Rumely is in good shape still and Rumely to Little Lake is still holding up pretty well although the base we had took a pretty good beating this week with the warm Temps and sunshine, some parts of this stretch are starting to show dirt now.
With a little help from mother nature we may just make it till the end of the month but the trail won’t take too many more warm sunny days and be rideable end to end.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> We are all cleaning out after all of this snow. Sounds like great snow coverage from end to end. That’s the good part! The bad part is we have so many wind prone areas with heavy drifting, that we need to let it settle for a day and get some sleds over it before we send out the groomer. It is the downfall of being a one groomer club. We don’t have the availability of running tandem to quickly recover from a storm like this. But…. This is the perfect time for all of the “adventurous” riders to break trail in GREAT SNOW!!! Just beware of fallen trees. Carry a saw and report back to us if there are any big ones down that need serious attention. We will report back as soon as we get back out! Be safe out there! #munising #snowphotosWe are all cleaning out after all of this snow. Sounds like great snow coverage from end to end. That’s the good part! Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA >> Well, we got snow. All day yesterday it rained. Transition to snow was last night 8pm.
We are working on getting out of our homes to get to the groomers. 50 to 60 mph winds all night and still blowing hard. Power has been out. If you are brave enough to go out in this wind, bring your chainsaws! It is going to be a solid day of clearing trees for us. The roads are currently blocked by trees and power lines. The picture shows my driveway that i plowed at 5am. Plowing in progress. We are doing all we can. Helping with tree removal would be very much appreciated. Be careful out there. #munising #snowphotosWell, we got snow. All day yesterday it rained. Transition to snow was last night 8pm.
