23 degrees this morning with a light snow floating around in the air. It looks like the weather is gonna finally cooperate. Its gonna cool WAY off and we are even under a winter storm watch starting tomorrow thru Saturday. I`ve seen various reports from 2-10″.
I`ve seen a few reports from the locals riding around here. It doesn`t look too bad if you stay on the high ground. If you want to come UP this weekend you could, just expect early season riding, you`ll be hittin some rocks and sticks but it can be done. The Falls trail #45 and the south trail #8 is still WAY to muddy and the gates remain closed on those sections. The Pine Stump trail #8 and the Point trails #452 & #453 are ridable. Nothing is groomed cause we just don`t have enough snow at this time but if we get this storm “they” are talking about for this weekend we might be able to get the groomers out. We need about a foot to do that so we don`t beat the hell outa our machines.
Just thought I would jump on here and give ya`ll a quick update. If you got the itch bad and want to come UP you can go for it but just expect early season ridin!

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> Rode out to Grand Marais yesterday and had an absolute blast. Sometimes imperfect trails are the most fun. A little thin getting into GM the last couple miles but easily passable. At 7 pm we were their second table of the day. Saw 1 other group of 5. Chris’s ski snapped in Siberia on the way back- wish I had a video of him leaning to the right all the way home🤣

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> I'm going up north to the U.P of Michigan on Friday to chase a potentially significant lake effect snow event from late Saturday night through Tuesday. Snowfall accumulations could be 1-2', if not higher, as high-res model guidance comes in when we get closer. Another lake-effect snow event is increasingly likely behind an arctic front next Wednesday night through Friday, which we will need to keep an eye on. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyI'm going up north to the U.P of Michigan on Friday to chase a potentially significant lake effect snow event from late Saturday night through Tuesday. PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 12/22/25 12 degrees this morning under a mostly clear sky. Here`s the trail report on how things went yesterday..... We took 2 machines w/o drags and headed out on the Falls trail #45. Unfortunately I can`t give you any good news. It was U.G.L.Y. In fact, da boss said it was the worst he`s ever seen....bummer. He did say you could make it from the Upper Falls to the Lower to get fuel at the Lower but be careful. From the Lower Falls to Paradise IS NOT PASSABLE!!! There is a video on our FB page to show you how bad it was. We need more snow and cold to even try this again in a groomer. Word of warning.....it is ILLEGAL to ride on M-123 from town to the Falls! Nothing else was run, we need more snow. The Point trails are ridable and the Pine Stump trail is also but thin in a lot of spots. We haven`t ran south on trail #8 since last weekend either. Simply put, we need more snow. This weeks forecast doesn`t look that promising for any great amounts either. Sorry for all the bad news......just being honest. I`ll let ya`ll know when things start improving. SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/10
~1/10 Complete trail update~
Trail 8- Soo to Brimley, and Brimley to the powerlines- panned, but thin.
Trail 8- powerline to Snowchasers turn around- not groomed or panned yet, may be tomorrow
Trail 889 and the Mission Hill Overlook- east side of the loop has wet spots. Not groomed yet. We will pan tomorrow where it makes sense. Some wet spots on plantation road. Use caution with vehicle ruts here
Trail 480 from Raco powerline to 472 through the Spile Dam- panned what we could, but there are large ruts from a truck in there. We do not recommend riding here until we get more snow to further fill them in. Some wet spots, but the Tucker made it all the way through. The new part of the trail on 472 is awesome! No water holes!
Trail 472 from Spile Dam to west side of Kinross , panned and thin
Trail 472 and 494 Kinross east- not groomed yet, will be panned likely tomorrow
City trails- not groomed yet. Watch for ruts and wet spots.
Likely Friday or Saturday before it will be panned. Need more snow.
🚨🚨Trail 49 south of the Soo to Kinross- very wet and gates remain closed where possible. DO NOT ride even where there are not gates. Lots of thin ice and water still🚨🚨
It’s a start. We definitely need the 6-12” that’s in the forecast. But we’re rolling at least! ❄️❄️❄️

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/10
Good morning all!
After the snow has settled, I show a solid 8” on the ground in the Soo. I’d say got about 5” of it from the storm. Again, we normally need about a foot to get grooming, but I will let you know if we are able to get out and pan.
If you’re in our area, please share snow reports as I have heard south of us may have picked up more. We are also watching another system for Friday into Saturday that could produce enough snow for us to begin normal grooming operations.

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/24/25 Merry Christmas Eve! A curious deer checked out our snow gauge overnight. A bit of a warm up kept groomers parked yesterday, but cold has returned this morning, and there’s a decent amount of snow in the forecast in the coming days. SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/21/25 Groomer Jay and I just finished the city trails. Aside from the car on trail 8 near Ashmun Bay, things look really good. We saw a little water on the trail to Kewadin as pictured, but that was honestly the worst part of the whole run. It was snowing hard for the last hour of our run. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well things held up after the warm up last week. We keep saying it, but we truly are very pleased with where things are this early seaon. Let’s hope it continues! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
