March 17

We have had 2-4 inches of new snow last night. Some road shoulders were bared off if you are planning on using them.

Trails are in the best condition of all year, flat, white and groomed.

Trails are all in good to excellent shape, but the longer the time after a groom the the rougher they get. Groomers are out smoothing out the trails daily. Hopefully if you find a not so smooth section you found many more that were freshly groomed. Groomers run 24/7 on different sections. Trails are generally groomed once a day on weekends and everyother day during the week depending on traffic, temps, and breakdowns.

Join us on Facebook also.

Sault Ste. Marie to Brimley, Trail #8 –

Sault Ste. Marie City Trail, Trails #497, #449, parts of #8 & #49 –

Base 3-7 inches – Trail is in Excellent Condition. The snow is level with the top of the airport fence.

City curfew is from 1am – 6 am. Remember most City streets are open to traffic, 20 mph, stop at all intersections, and ride the right hand side of street not on side walks. Watch for closed streets that are posted, mainly around the hospital, university, and state trunk lines.

Sault Ste. Marie to Kinross, Trail #49 –

Base 4-10 inches – Trail is in Excellent Condition. When the trail is running along roads make sure you go with the flow of traffic on the right side of the road. With the rain there is some wet spots under the snow in drainage ditches or low lying areas.

Kinross loop and south to Pickford, parts of Trail #49, #494, #472

Base 3 – 8 inches – Trail is in Good to Excellent Condition. Less snow to the South East compared to Raco but still more then we have had in many years. We have been grooming some of teh ditches so as the road bares off you won’t tear off your carbides.

Kinross to Raco/Rudyard, Trail # #480 & #472

Base 3-8 inches – Trail is in Excellent Condition. Lots of snow watch for deer!

The Downtown Trail has not been groomed, but it is marked. The city hopes to set up the barrels on the trail this week if they don’t have to spend all week moving snow. It has been snowing so much they have been too busy moving snow.

St. Ignace Trail Report – 03/19

2/3 of the way through March, and the groomers are running strong every day reporting some of the best trail conditions we have had this year. Mother Nature is making up for the marginal December, and giving us super March riding. If you are thinking about putting that sled away, you better think again, we have a COUPLE WEEKS of good riding yet for sure. The trail bas has done nothing but improve over the last week, and the groomers are packing down another 6’+ of fresh system snow today. Not sure if we will see any of that predicted 12′ of lake effect, but even without it, you will find some of the best-flattest-widest trails in the whole state in our area. It will probably be a long cold wet spring, may as well burn some of that summer vacation time on the sled. Make your reservations and head this way, great week-day and week-end riding awaits you.

The following pics were sent in by the groomer less then 1 hour ago. Yes, trails are rated 10 out-of 10. (sure, now try to explain to the boss why you are day dreaming and getting nothing done today!)

Base: 18 inches

Snowfall Past 24 hours: 5 inches

Last Grooming: Daily – usually @ night

Current Trail Conditions: Excellent
