Cadillac Area Trail Report – 03/19

We have picked up about 4 inches since the snow started yesterday afternoon. Our President just called to report he groomed the southwestern section of our trail network this morning and said the trails are very good. He also indicated the groomer out of Boon was going north to Mesick today. Snow and cooler temperatures are predicted for the rest of the week so it appears we will have some nice riding into the weekend.

Update: The Boon groomers just called in and reported the trails are in excellent conditon north of Boon to Mesick with an additional 6 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours in that area.

To better access the forest trails, you’ll want to use one of the Staging Areas below:

33 Rd Staging Area–S of M-55–approx.. 3 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Caberfae Staging Area–approx.. 12 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Boon Staging Area–park in plowed area south of Boon Grocery

Note: The porta-a-johns were removed from our staging areas today as our contracts on them expired 3-15-13.

Grand Marais Trail Report – 03/19

Ok, enough already! Really?? Spring is two days away and we’re in the middle of a blizzard! Again! Well, I must say, I do enjoy weather like this! As of this morning, the official snow total was 217 inches for the season. Since then we’ve gotten at least another foot, whoo hoo! So much for the forecasts that said we’d get 8 to 18 by Thursday morning! As of 4:00 this afternoon, they are saying light snow will transition from moderate to heavy!? Where they heck are they? It’s been coming down like crazy all day. I had a hard time finding my way home from town in the white outs and the winds haven’t even kicked up yet.

One thing I do have to report is that we have another groomer down – that makes two out of commission. Thank you, Seney Snowmobile Association for helping us out. With their help, all the trails will still be groomed. This crazy snow has really pushed our groomers to the max this season.

Base: 36 or more inches

Snowfall Past 24 hours: 5 inches

Last Grooming: Last Night and early this morning

Current Trail Conditions: Good to Excellent
