Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/19

Great snow out west of Raco, groomed last night with 4-8 inches of fresh stuff. Trails are getting better each time we groom them. Still issues with wet areas or the water spots we have every year, as they are still not completely frozen. Temps have been around 20 so it is settling some of the fluff and packing into a good base!

Web Trail Report 12/19:

Trails are in fair to good shape going west on trail #8. Gates are all open, most trails have been packed/groomed twice or 3 times. Some flowing water on the Spile Dam trail.  There will be water in many of the wet areas until the snow gets packed and the frost gets driven into the ground, especially after a groomer goes thru.

Newberry Trail Report – Halfway Lake Resort – 12/19

Here at Halfway Lake we have 20" of snow on the ground, 6" of that being a good hard base. We are hearing reports of anywhere from 6" of snow in the town of Newberry to close to 3 feet in Paradise. The trails are seeing very few riders, but those out riding are smiling and have good reports. With minimal traffic, this may be some of the best riding we will see all season- who knows!?!??!

Groomers are out running and the amount of snow we have coupled with cold temps, the trails are setting up nicely with a hard base. We have added an inch or two of fluff on a daily basis.

It is nice to be "back to normal" and have some good rideable snow as an early Christmas present. I remember anticipating the trails opening on December 1st being the normal. We are hoping this is a reflection of what the rest of winter has to bring.

*****COUPON SPECIAL***** Book by December 31 to receive $25 off your stay of any three consecutive nights Jan 6 – Feb 28. Must mention at time of reservation. Deposit must be postmarked by Jan 3rd. Not to be combined with other offers.

We are located 12 mi NW of Newberry and 7 miles South of Pine Stump Junction. Between Grand Marais and Paradise.
