Good morning it is monday and the area is looking good. We have over a foot of base from Greenland down with at least 8 inches in the Ontonagon area and Trail 12 from Greenland to Ontonagon groomed last night for the third time and in great shape with one wet spot about 200 yes in from where the trail crosses hwy M38 going west. There is a Beaver pond there that we did extensive work last night to freeze down the wet spot but other wise you will enjoy a perfect flat super highway into Ontonagon mi.
On the west side of Ontonagon going to White Pine we made it 3/4 of the way before running into a closed Forest gate that we were told would be open. The great people of the U S Forest Service are taking care of that as speak and we will be heading to White Pine and on To Silver City Later today. Our new Piston Bully and Dubbie Drag will groom a 15 ft wide sheet of glass for you tommorow on the south boundary .
Also there is now a new Trail head parking lot next to the Club House here off of Norwich tral rd straight across from the M64 Truck Stop so if you are looking for a place to park and ride come on up.

Well as I said a few days ago, it was coming and boy did it! We woke up to over 12 inches of fresh white powder in town Saturday morning. Checking around I learned that the snow only went a few miles inland and there was between 12 and 16 inches. But it’s all powder, not real good for packing and establishing a base but sleds are out having a blast. We are working on freezing in the wet spots and cleaning up after the ‘storm’ but it will take a few days to hit all the trails. We are starting to pan the trails and we still have some signing to do on the reroutes for 888 and 443. We will not start actual grooming until we get more snow to work with. Overnight, we did get a couple more inches of fluff and they are calling for a bit every day this week. Looks like a long season may be in store!
If you are out and about, watch for water holes, ice, downed trees, limbs and especially watch for logging trucks along Trails 8 West, 89, 443, 88 and 888. Right now there are loggers all over trying to get their loads of wood out so they are plowing sections of these trails.
Crazy 8’s Open House, December 28, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Groomer Barn with Brats, dogs, refreshments and snacks! Meet the team, check out the groomers and make new friends. You will be able to get your official ‘Crazy 8’s’ gear straight from the ‘Home of the Crazy 8’s.’ Oh, and we will be giving away prizes, too!
As always, Ride Safe and Bring them Home Alive!
