Newberry Trail Report – Halfway Lake Resort – 12/19

Here at Halfway Lake we have 20" of snow on the ground, 6" of that being a good hard base. We are hearing reports of anywhere from 6" of snow in the town of Newberry to close to 3 feet in Paradise. The trails are seeing very few riders, but those out riding are smiling and have good reports. With minimal traffic, this may be some of the best riding we will see all season- who knows!?!??!

Groomers are out running and the amount of snow we have coupled with cold temps, the trails are setting up nicely with a hard base. We have added an inch or two of fluff on a daily basis.

It is nice to be "back to normal" and have some good rideable snow as an early Christmas present. I remember anticipating the trails opening on December 1st being the normal. We are hoping this is a reflection of what the rest of winter has to bring.

*****COUPON SPECIAL***** Book by December 31 to receive $25 off your stay of any three consecutive nights Jan 6 – Feb 28. Must mention at time of reservation. Deposit must be postmarked by Jan 3rd. Not to be combined with other offers.

We are located 12 mi NW of Newberry and 7 miles South of Pine Stump Junction. Between Grand Marais and Paradise.

Grand Marais Trail Report – 12/19

As of tonight, we will be grooming all of our trails every night! Yahoo! There is still one 450′ section on #88 that needs major brushing/clearing but the guys are going to see what they can do with it today while they are signing the reroute east of M-77. Hopefully, they’ll be able to punch through there and link in to #443 by the weekend. The reroute for #443 is complete and passes through some beautiful terrain with high ground where you can see long distances and a view of North Lake! These reroutes look like they will be a nice improvement to our trail system adding a couple of miles each to #888 and #443.

BE ALERT: Loggers are plowing H-58 from the Visitor’s Center to the Log Slide on #8 west AND Adams Trail on a section of #88 and #888. Be sure to watch for signs and logging trucks where we share the road.
