Benzie Area Trail Report – 01/30

Another 3 to 5 inches of new snow just since this afternoon. We have 24 to 36 inches on the ground in most locations with drifts over 4 feet tall in some of the fields and open areas. Groomers have been out on Trail #3 from Kaleva all the way to Alysworth Rd. Bear Lake Spur was also groomed and #395 to Beulah. Even the groomers had a hard time today through the drifts. So have fun and stay safe.

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 1/29

Hi all! Happy Hump Day! Trails are looking so good! SO MUCH FRESH SNOW and so much wind though too! We have gotten about 12-18′ of new snow in the last 5 days putting us at 160′ for the season so far! Trails are being groomed but lots of blowing and drifting is still happening so be careful! Base is a good 12′ but some drifts are 3ft high so drive safe, visibility is limited and wind chills range from -10 to -30. Maple City groomer should be back in service by Thursday night and the Benzie groomer was down with a flat tire and will be back Thursday too. The entire trail system will be groomed starting Thursday since there’s lots of snow, hard drifts and some bumps to clean up after the past few days. It should all be looking great by the weekend again! If ya see a big green machine, stay outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they pass by! PLEASE Be smart, be safe, have fun and I’ll SEEYA on the trails! Carol

Cadillac Area Trail Report – 01/30

January 30, 2014 – Trail conditions remain Good to Excellent throughout the system. Haven’t really gotten much new snow in the last couple of days but the wind has been shifting the existing snow and causing drifting particularly in open areas.

The forecast for the week ahead is encouraging–finally a break from the brutal subzero temperatures. According to TV 9 and 10 we can look forward to several day of temps in the mid to upper teens and low to mid 20’s. I’d call that perfect riding weather.

The groomers are enjoying all the snow they have to work with this year. Hope you’ll have a chance to get out and ride and enjoy the North American Snow Festival going on this weekend in Cadillac.
