Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 02/04

Looks like we are starting off the week to a great start. Temps are in the teens today with a slight chance of snow. Our temps for the next 10 days will be in the teens and single digits with a chance of snow. Our trails are in the best shape they have been in for years……come up and enjoy some great riding.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority – Reports all trails are groomed and are in good to very good condition. Trail 2 in Wakefield has an issue; the banks were pushed back by the county which leaves a big drop from the trail. The GRTA was going to talk with someone from Wakefield to see what can be done to resolve the problem I will keep you posted. All trails have a firm base and are in good shape. We have gotten word from the DNR trail 11S will be closed due to logging this winter.

The Lake Gogebic groomer’s report: Grooming is ongoing. Trails are all in good to very good condition. No problems on the trails with great riding available. Please stay on trails..riding on unmarked trails jeopardizes our trail easements!!!! NOTE OF CAUTION TO SNOWMOBILERES!!!!! THE TRACK FRO THE RADAR RUN IN FRONT OF THE GOGEBIC LODGE IS FROZEN IN FROM THIS PAST WEEKEND, DO PROCEED WITH CAUTION IN THAT AREA.

The Watersmeet groomer’s report: Grooming is ongoing. Trails are in good to very good condition. Come out and getting some great riding in.

Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, Please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.

JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.

Benzie Area Trail Report – 02/01

Trail Report 2/1/2014 Trail #3 from Kaleva to Turtle Lake was groomed yesterday, Trail 386 Bear Lake Spur also groomed along with #395 and #39. The only sections we had issues with due to break downs and too much snow were Trail # 3 Alysworth to Maple City the far North and to the far South Trail #3 from Clements to High Bridge. The middle section and spurs are in excellent condition for riding with 12-14 inches of base. There is plenty of groomed trail to ride and even the sections that missed grooming yesterday are still full of snow. We hope to have all the groomers repaired and out by late tonight or very early morning Sunday.

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 1/31

TGIF! Trails are looking so good! SO MUCH FRESH SNOW this week again! Trails are being groomed but lots of blowing and drifting out there is still happening so be careful! Groomers are even struggling with beating the drifts! Base is a good 12′ but some drifts are 3ft high so drive safe, visibility is a bit more limited! Trails are groomed but there’s lots of snow, hard drifts and some bumps still out there! Snowbirds cautioned today that just east of Yates Rd and before Whitala Rd on TRail #3 at the steep hill, it is very rough. The groomer was able to get up the hill but it took several attempts and there are some pretty large ruts. Snow is deep and there is still lots of drifting. If ya see a big green machine, stay outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they pass by! PLEASE Be smart, be safe, have fun and I’ll SEEYA on the trails! Carol
