As for the Trails: Caution Flags are UP. Driver Marc was out putting up signs and said there really isn’t much snow on the trails, there is about 3-4 inches on Trail 8 West (H-58 heading west from town), Trail 888 had up to 10 inches of semi-packed snow but warned to watch out for holes in the trails, wet spots, and bare areas on the pavement.
There has been a lot of snowmobile traffic buzzing about since Thursday and they’ve managed to pack down the fluff. Plus the warmer weather and rainy conditions last week took it’s toll on the snow. On a brighter side, the forecast is calling for daytime temperatures to be in the 20’s most of the week, sub-zero and single digits at night with 40 to 70% chances of snow all week.
The cold could create a lot of ice on the wet spots and holes. BUT, they are calling for some snow tonight and 1 to 3 inches tomorrow. I will try to get a better report out to ya’s later today or in the morning.

The trails are open!!! With 90.9 inches of snow in the Ironwood area more in the higher terrain,we definitely have enough snow for riding. I do know the groomers are out getting the trails in shape where it is permitting. The low areas and the swamps will probably not be groomed because of so much water under the snow. I will have a more detailed report tomorrow from each of the clubs.
The Gogebic Range Trail Authority:
The Lake Gogebic groomer’s report:
The Watersmeet groomer’s report:
Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, Please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.
JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.
