Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/19

Trail Report…..

Water holes are freezing up with our Temps in the single digits….expecting the same again tonight….

Still no new snow …3 days straight
approx 2-6′ snow on ground…. very little snowmachine traffic on our trail system.. No grooming till we get snow…….

Expecting snow/rain by sunday eveining into monday and temps dropping….Major snow storm expected by wednesday…depending on wich direction the storm tracks…we could bet up to 24′ over the Christmas -New years week..

**Still watching that potential storm for the Christmas Holiday Period next Tuesday through Christmas Day.

All computer models indicate something is going to develop and affect us. It is a matter of timing, path and strength differences between what the data suggests.

Still going with some rain/snow Tuesday then changing over to snow Wednesday with the wind and snow picking up Christmas Eve night and through Christmas Day. Will continue to monitor this the next several day and post updates on here through the period. In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine today because more cloudiness rolls in for this weekend** via Jim Lehocky meteroligst…

Grand Marais Trail Report – 12/19

12/19/14 – Things may be looking up for the next week and beyond. John Dee is reporting a possible 4′ or more of wet heavy snow to fall in our area by Monday the 22nd. Then up to 5+ or more over the next few days in time for the Christmas weekend.

Unfortunately, it’s still supposed to be in the 30’s. After that it’s still a guessing game. We need a lot of repeated or consistent cold temperatures to freeze down those water holes.

We don’t have enough snow to push into them to help the process. Once we start getting measurable snow, we can get back to work prepping the base.

Until then the flags still fly red to yellow.
