There is approx. 6 inches of snow out there. The trail is covered in white. HOWEVER, it is a light fluffy snow.
There have been sledders (I’m rather surprised at seeing more than I expected) so in many areas there is dirt, leaves and grass showing. The trail is rough. You can visibility see from the road all the dips and holes.
Last weekend when we had a day of rain and 40s there were ATV’s rip roaring on the trail so I know that right along here there are some deep ruts.
Grooming will not begin until there is at least 8 to 12 inches of snow. The forecast is looking promising. Will keep you updated.

January 2, 2015 | Ray's Retreat
Don’t want to start 2015 looking a gift horse in the mouth, but we just don’t have enough snow to run the equipment yet. We measured snow on the ground at Wildwood Road and it totals 4″ settled. Areas of Indian River received 4-6″ of snow through the New Year’s Eve/Day time frame and there’s been drifting. Snowmobiles have been on the trails and there is no base.
There’s no packed snow so what’s there has been blown off by trail traffic.
The corners are dirt at Wildwood Road and most likely all along the local system. Currently our weather is cold (high teens), clear, and expected quiet all day. The weekend looks promising for a storm to bring heavy snow!
If the forecast for temps in the upper 20’s is correct the snow will be dense and great for packing. So we sit tight once again and look to the next 48 hours to bring us what we need to groom and ride!
