Traverse City Area Trail Report – 01/08

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 01/08

GTASC received 3-8 inches of lake effect snow depending where you are in the trail system. Groomer Jeff did the north run and reported some snirty areas and some good areas. Groomer Dirk ran the east run and reported the same. Thanks guys for volunteering your time. We need more snow but the trails are slowly shaping up. Remember, Ride Right, Ride Safe, Ride Sober.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> The winter weather advisory has come and gone. The trails took a hit this weekend with all the traffic. Luckily, we had a narrow lake effect band set up shop on Sunday and dropped a foot of fluff in some areas on the trail. Elsewhere, we received 2-6 inches. A few club members went out to check the trails on their sleds, and rated the trails as good, with some snirt in areas.
We will be panning this new snow before the warm up this week. Hopefully, this warn up doesn't hurt the base too much.
When your out on the trails and your looking for a place to eat. Check out our business sponsor Fife Lake Inn. Located on beautiful Fife Lake, their your family-friendly go-to spot for casual American dining, cold beverages and good times. Show them your tether and tell them GTASC sent you and receive 10% off your order. #traversecity #snowphotos

Seney Area Trail Report – 01/08

SENEY AREA UPDATE via Seney Snowmobile Association >> 01/08

Here’s the current trail update so everyone knows. All our trails north of M-28 are in good to great shape. Trail 43 heading south is not currently being groomed due to loggers.

They are working down there and the road is being plowed from Seney to 10 Curves Rd. We haven’t been down there to get the current conditions.

We hear from riders It’s rideable but not great, the skis hit rocks and the road is ruff from the all the logging trucks.

Nothing we can do about that sorry folks. Trail 43 north of Seney has a couple water holes to contend with and we have detour signs up to avoid that area. Once it freezes in we will take the signs down and reopen that part of the trail. Trail 431 is in great shape. Trail 440 is in great shape. Trail 8 to the Bear Trap is in great shape. We do have 2 Park & Rides one is in Seney, and the other one is off M-77 north of Seney about 4 miles just past The Fox River. If you’re planing on coming up you are good to go.

We know there’s not much snow in the lower and taking a trip up here don’t seem to promising. But once you cross the bridge and you get about 5 miles south of M-28 you’ll see snow.

The snow gets deeper the further north of M-28 you go and the riding is good. If you have a trip planed come on up and enjoy it. Remember ride right and stay safe out there.

Consider this the most current trail update.
