First off I forgot to mention that’s a silver fox hat which I picked at the 2004 Sturgis Rally.
We are getting hammered pretty good today so if you’re driving up be extra careful there’s time it’s a white out. If you’re out riding Ride Right and slow down we’ve had enough accidents this year.
KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club >> We continue to work our way through two remaining trails, Trail 133 from Gay to Lac La Belle and Trail 151 into Eagle River. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> The UP will experience some impactful weather to round out the work week. Tonight, a Wind Advisory is in effect for the Keweenaw Peninsula for 45+ mph W to NW winds. Then Wednesday night through Friday morning will bring gusty winds and a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, and/or snow becoming widespread accumulating snow (with the highest chances of multiple inches of snowfall over the north half). I crawled outa bed this morning at 0630 and flipped on my outside deck lights and said “holy wah” its gonna be a busy day! It was 5 degrees and I had a solid 7″ of fresh snow on my deck!!! It is now 0830 with a bright sunny sky and 7 degrees.
I am not on the schedule to groom today but I wish I was, its gonna be a blast for the guys that are on!! I`ll spend the day digging out…not so much fun.
All trails will be run today but I don`t even have to wait to hear from the guys cause I know all trails will be EXCELLENT and I don`t use that word very often! Thats all I have to say about the trails so here are a few tips for you when you come upon a groomer on the trails. I mention these cause it sure helps us on a long day on the trails and its safer for everyone. Plus. it seems to be a problem every year.
Tip #1…..When you see a groomer coming at you start looking for a good spot to get off the trail and get outa our way so we don`t have to stop or try and squeeze by….this happens WAY to often and it makes for a much longer day for us. Remember we CAN NOT get off the trail and we DO have the right of way.
Tip #2…..When you approach a groomer from behind, follow us SLOWLY from 50′ back. Please stay off the brap lever so you don`t tear up the fresh groom. We will let you by as soon as possible. DO NOT just try and fly by us!!!!!
Tip #3……We would rather see hand signals for how many ppl. are behind you in your group or for the last person rather than a thumbs up or even a wave.
This concludes the days lesson on “How to get around a groomer on the trail”. Please try and follow these tips. Its MUCH safer for everyone involved. THANK YOU!!!!!! HAVE A SAFE RIDE!!!!!

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 12/14/25 10 degrees this morning and cloudy. Mother Nature FINALLY blessed us with a good dumping of snow! We have picked up a solid foot or more in the last 36 hrs. and its been COLD. Following up from my last report......the tech did finally make it out and went through our computer problems on all 3 machines. 2 of them are up and runnin good now and we just got the parts we need for the third one and that will be good to go today. Now, on to whats been happinin with the trails...... Yesterday we took 2 machines with 4 guys but no drags and headed south on trail #8. We skipped the swamp just south of town and started at the river mouth. We ran across just some minor water holes at the south end of the power line and a touch more severe in the Federal Forest section. We kept the gates closed in the Federal Forest section to give that a chance to tighten up. Tomorrow we are gonna send the same set up around the Point Trails #452 & #453. The other machine will hit the Pine Stump trail #8 doing a full groom. After we see how all that goes we will hit the Falls trail #45 hopefully by the end of the week. I`m sure ya`ll have seen we have a slight warm up coming this Tues. for a couple days so that will dictate what we do on the Falls trail and the Swamp south of town.
