Munising Area Trail Report – 02/27

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/26

TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, 2-27-2021 WARM WEATHER BUT STILL GOOD RIDING!
No new snow with Operators reporting fair grooming results for some really good riding. Our Trail System in in Overall Good condition, staying fairly flat through the day with little chop developing and some icy corners. The trails are soft and not setting after grooming due to the warm days and tired snow. Ride with caution. Yesterdays sun and warm weather really hit Trail 8 from Shingleton North for about 5 miles, it is in fair condition with bare corners, thin and very dirty snow. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. Trail 8 from Shingleton to Trail 7 South is the highest used section of trail with snow sugary along that stretch. We will continue to Help our Neighbors to the East, grooming East on Trail 8 from the Bear Trap intersection to the Trail 43 intersection. Grooming just finished with decent results. Please respect residential property owners and STAY ON THE TRAIL, No Snowmobile Signs mean just that. Please DO NOT run the Powerlines off of Trail 419. Our Team of volunteer Groomer Operators will continue to do their best to keep trails flat. Keep snow dancing, get out and ENJOY the Trails, Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates! MUNISING AREA UPDATE VIA TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Our newest operator is catching on quick! Reinforcements from Pennsylvania have arrived also! We are hitting it hard for this weekend with a short preventative maintenance window planned for the machine on Saturday. Temps are warming up during the day, making the trail soft and letting moguls form, but temps will drop again for the weekend! That means better trails for Saturday. Looks warm for the start of next week with temps near 30 by Tuesday. Get out and ride while the riding is good! Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

Harbor Springs Trail Report – 02/27

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 02/27

All of our trails were groomed last night and are in pretty good shape. With the warm weather today and then rain tomorrow we are expecting trail conditions to deteriorate. Unfortunately one of our groomers ran into a vehicle on the trail last night, this is extremely frustrating as it adds unnecessary time and work to the night. We only have a few months, in this years case a few weeks of good riding, we would appreciate it if everyone could keep their vehicles off the trails!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Feb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> Happy February! ☃️
Overall, our trails are in great shape! The only rough section is where they are logging on 71/Chadderdon Rd. We had a groomer out on the grade last night from Pellston to Alanson & two out tonight, one on the grade from Pellston to Mackinaw & the other on the west side of our trail system. We plan to have at least one groomer out every day this week & through the weekend.
🪵 Logging Operation – Trail 71 🪵
There is still an active logging operation on Trail 71 at Chadderdon Road. Although numerous signs are posted, we are still seeing riders not slowing down.
Please use extreme caution in this area:
- Skidders and log trucks are entering and traveling on the trail
- SLOW DOWN
- If you encounter logging equipment coming toward you, get off the trail or turn around until you can safely move aside
- Do not try to go around them — they are much larger than you, cannot stop quickly, and have the right of way
Your safety (and theirs) depends on it.
❄️ Upcoming Events ❄️
