Things are looking real good so far this year. The trails that have been groomed are staying flat and are in very good shape. Hopefully this week all the clubs can wrap up getting the rest of our trail system opened up.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> Brrrrrr….. 🥶it was definitely a cold day to ride the Keweenaw, but Jason Kremer definitely wasn’t complaining!
Jason and crew headed out today from the Ramada in Hancock and rode up to Copper Harbor for the Winter Wonderfest & Park
Lighting Event! (Checkout the video Jason shared with us in the comments!)
Jason is a frequent rider of the Keweenaw and today definitely didn’t disappoint! Jason shared these photos and said, “You definitely need to tode to Copper Harbor tomorrow! Trails are not freshly groomed but they are flat and fast! The only slightly bumpy part was the trail up Brockway, but not bad for a Saturday in the Kee! There is zero traffic today, only met one group of sledders all the way from Hancock to Copper Harbor. Having a blast, will send you pics when I get service. Maybe we will run into a groomer on the way back!”
Well, as you can see from one of Jason’s photos, they did come across a groomer on the way back from Copper Harbor!
We hope you all enjoyed your Saturday as much as Jason did!
Please note as of right now the, The Portage Lake Lift Bridge is not yet open for snowmobile crossing. That means you can not cross from Houghton to Hancock…. yet.
The Coast Guard needed to close the shipping lanes and then the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club and the city need to coordinate laying the snow mat for sled crossing…. Hopefully, very soon!
Thanks as always for sharing, Jason! #keweenaw #snowphotos

Sault Ste. Marie Area Trail Report – 02/17

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 02/17

2/17/25- from Turbo yesterday- LOL

“Sorry it’s been a couple of days since my last trail report. We have been very busy keeping these trails in excellent shape. Not sure if everyone knows, but we are down to two groomers (1 in Brimley and 1 in Kinross) on one of the busiest weekends of the year. So, my good friend Lane down in Kinross has been grooming up to the Soo doing a 6 hour run, and we have been grooming from Raco to the Soo on a 6 hour run also. We want to make sure all of the trails stay in excellent shape. So it has been a long couple of days. We had our trail stop on Saturday and we met many nice people. The excitement was so great that we had numerous people wanting to join our club. Of course I got writers cramp from all of the autographs I gave out, thanks to all my followers. Nothing new to report on the trail conditions. They are all still in great shape. I’ll post a few pictures of the trail stop and the trails. I’ll do better this week with trail reports. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Stay safe and ride right.
Turbo (and Mrs. Turbo too)”

Thank you again to all who came out to our trail stop!

2/17/25
Please use caution if you encounter wildlife on the trail. This beauty has been hanging around town, close to where trail 8 and trail 49 intersect in the Soo. Please, DO NOT approach her, or scare her. Moose are very large animals, and can be unpredictable when they are scared. Today, she was right in the middle of the road as I was driving home. She was headed straight for my Jeep. I backed up, she ran into a driveway, then made it safely back into the woods.

If you encounter a moose on the trail, back up if it is safe to do so, and go the other way until they move along.
Please take it slow in this area. She’s made this her home base and we expect her to be around the rest of snowmobile season.
One of our awesome members saw her earlier as well, and sent us the other photo.

Thanks all!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/15/25
Hey guys! Rider report from Greg regarding trail 49. If you subscribe to our system on Groomer Tracker, you can see that we have not been through there since Lane set the trail a week ago, but we’ll update once we are able to get in there.
For now, good advice from Greg👍🏼
“The trail to Kinross is a disaster right now (trail 49 from Alberta Ln in the Soo to Gaines Hwy) The power line just as you get out of town has a big wet hole and once you get past that there are holes in the farm fields. Stay out until they open it. The big swamps are fine they just have no snow. The trails in kinross are good. Everything other than Soo to kinross is amazing”
We’ll keep you posted! #soo
