Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/09
February 9, 2022
27 degrees this morning, cloudy and a stiff SE breeze. "They" are calling for a couple-few inches of snow today and through-out the rest of the week…..PERFECT!
Still nothing new to report on the trails. All operators are telling me they are in very good shape. Groomer Mike H. even has his own rating system but I keep telling him "I can`t print that!" He ran the Point trails #452 and #453 yesterday and we`ll just say he rated them as excellent!
One thing I have noticed is there is quite a bit of traffic here this week so the trails are gettin a little choppy in the evening. We ARE all over it though! We are runnin a full schedule and all 3 machines are humming along.
What more can I say. Everything in our little corner of the world is perfect. COME ON UP and enjoy!!!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Another quickly-moving Clipper will bring a round of widespread, light snow beginning this evening, followed by lingering lake effect snow across the NW wind snow belts for Tuesday. Totals of an inch or less are expected for most of the UP, but where lake effect snow occurs, up to 2-5in of snow is possible tonight through Tuesday evening. I can tell you there are nights now and then I'd like to go out back there and have a discussion with our little drag about what we're supposed to be doing with a Ball Pean hammer, thank your Ribbons for that.
So far, very little wear and tear, get to focus on improving, not repairing, and the drag and I are now getting along, keep you posted.
Oh, we're at 100% for getting outta the way so far! 🥰 Thank You!
11:04pm. In and outta North Store Wolf Inn, took the time to cut a limb up, on the exit end, and a leaning tree at the exit on I75 there crossing back to the Windy Corners intersection that have been bugging us awhile. That trail Report is I love when it turns out like it did, and we can do that for them. 😊
Turned right towards Holland Lake, this section seems to be where my phone jams up, it is after 11 on a Monday , as I said earlier, 9 was pretty nice when we arrived, even better when we leave, I'm just going to make tracks for a hunk of time now, turn up the radio, become one with Tucker, don't fret 😉

Discussion
Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. 3 degrees this morning under a partly sunny sky. It was minus 6 when I went to bed last night at 10! No new snow last night but we did pick up 3-4" the night before. Just a quick report to keep ya`ll informed before I head out the door to go grooming myself. Here`s the scoop from yesterdays runs.....
Groomer Keith hit the Stump trails and called them good.
Groomer Patrick did the Falls trail and called that one good too.
Groomer Dave ran the South trail #8 and said the same, even the swamp is good to go!
Here`s a STRONG suggestion to the boondockers. Both Patrick and Dave told me they saw a lot of tracks off trail on the Falls trail and in the swamp. This is a VERY BAD idea as both trails still have a lot of water and soft spots where you could sink up to your arm pits. It is NOT SAFE to ride off trail in there where the trail is not packed in. If you get buried in there we cannot help cause we will not risk getting a groomer stuck!!! It is a very expensive towing bill too if you can find someone to help. Another tip, I am finding it very frustrating with some riders not yielding to the groomers. Its a long day for us to begin with and some riders are not getting to the side when they see us coming or blasting by us from behind. PLEASE just get over and let us by or wait for us to stop and let ya by from behind....PLEASE. Rant done
We plan on runnin the entire system today/tonight.
COME ON UP.....our trails are now in beautiful shape!!!!!!!!!!! A big plus is it looks like this cold will stick around for awhile too!!!!!!!!!!!!

In and outta Windy Corners, I've done better, not the snows fault, kept loosing my prime, most, very nice, its a personal goal thing.
Intell has informed me we've had help grooming a chunk of 9 tonight, I'll keep you posted 😉
