Munising Area Trail Report – 02/10

TRAIL REPORT February 10, 2022

STILL HANGING IN THERE!

Light new snowfall with the trail system in an overall good condition. We are continuing the down equipment struggle with help from neighboring clubs and doing our best with the smaller, lighter equipment. Stay alert as trouble areas still have a few pockets that will develop throughout the day. Thank our neighboring clubs for helping us keep your trails rideable by grooming additional miles (Trenary Northern Trails, Schoolcraft County Motorized Trails Association and Big Bay De Noc Snowmobile Club).

We are hoping our Pisten Bully will be back up and running any day now so we can dig into full grooming operations for the weekend. The Big Deere is under repair and will hopefully be back to us next week. Get out and ride safe, stay right and enjoy the great riding conditions! Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails –

Have to say the fresh snow we got has really helped the trail out. Gary was out last night and then finished up this morning on a full groom. Todd is out tonight for his first run with us. So please give him some love, we are very thankful he decided to join us this year. The video is Todd’s first time out, right after being trained. Thanks Todd for helping out. Means a lot to us all. Ride right, and be safe out there.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.
Discussion
Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. Again, this will be for totals starting at noon today, and lasting through 8 am EST Wednesday, with most of the snow falling throughout the entire day Tuesday. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyLake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.

Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/10

February 10, 2022

24 degrees this morning and snowing. I`ve got about 2 inches on my deck from yesterday and last night. The weather guessers are calling for 3-6 for late tonight and early Friday morning……OH YEAH!!!!

The trails still remain the same, almost perfect. I say almost because the traffic this week is a little heavier than normal so they get a little chop on them late day, but like I said in my last post, we are on top of it! It has been a touch warm (upper 20`s) the last couple of days so that doesn`t help either.

Now, on to something more important than the trails or anything else. I know this report is supposed to be about the trails, but I have a request from the DNR (and other people) to post this. With the little heavier traffic on the trails during the week, I think cause down below doesn`t have the best conditions, PLEASE SLOW DOWN!!!!!!! Remember, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE ON THE TRAILS!!!! We had a very serious accident last Tuesday, 2 sleds hit head on, because of speed and not staying on your side of the trail. I hear one guy is in pretty bad shape. We`ve also had the same ole problem with people flying through town and riding in people`s yards. The speed limit on the town trail is 15MPH and STAY ON THE TRAIL!!!! Sorry to have to post this but some morons just don`t get it. We are all out there to have fun and be safe, so, SLOW THE HECK DOWN AND STAY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRAIL!!!!!!! Your Mom and Dad, Sons and Daughters, and anyone else that loves you will appreciate you coming home safe and sound! Get it? OK, nuff said.

This weekend is gonna be awesome. COME ON UP!!!!!!
Ride right, ride safe.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> 8:21:PM Doused the lights at the entrance of 9 again tonight to wait for a group headed to Newberry.
Pray for H2O free diesel, and fracture free Metalergy tonight! 🙏
9:25 Check out this group, they have exiting and getting outta the way of the Groomer down to a Extreme Science! 🥰 ThankYou Very Much! You know who you are 😊
10:08 Lot and Lots of time to ponder things out here, and we see things out here sooner, and better from our picture windows and Lazy Boys, I was wondering how many of you come into corners at a Very respectful safety minded speed only to find a series of Rupp eating craters that had you in an entirely different spot half way around and coming out of that corner?
In and outta Windy Corners, I've done better, not the snows fault, kept loosing my prime, most, very nice, its a personal goal thing.
Intell has informed me we've had help grooming a chunk of 9 tonight, I'll keep you posted 😉
