TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via RANCH RUDOLF – 2/20
Groomers did run last night. Trails are averaging fair at best. There is just so much ice underneath. Thin spots. Who knows what next with projected low 40s today. The roller coaster weather has made it tough for snowmobilers. It has been nearly impossible to establish any sort of sustainable base this winter. Hats off to all those volunteer groomer drivers who make the trails the best they can be with what we have to work with

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Jan 25 2026...Most areas stay quiet across the Northwoods for the first couple days of the week, with the exception of the shorelines, which have a better shot at seeing some lake effect snow showers at times. The next best chance of snow comes later Monday into Monday night with the next clipper system swinging in. Light northerly winds today become light and variable tonight…then west to southwest and increasing a bit for Monday and Monday night with that clipper. TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> Baby it's cold outside.......because of the extreme cold, GTASC did not groom on Friday for the safety of our drivers. However, last night we were
out in full force. Groomer Steve groomed the east route reporting some drifting but the trails groomed up nice. Groomer Mark did the south trail and reported excellent conditions. Groomer Jeff did the north trail with the new Dubie Groomers/Brush Cutter and does that drag work nice. Jeff reported excellent conditions. Thanks guys for volunteering your time. Wind chills in the 20s below zero; some areas could feel as cold as -30F. This will be dangerous, as frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers. Keep a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded.
