Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/25

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 2/25

Bonus, wow, I just rolled out of bed and we have a nice fluffy good 3 to 4 inches of snow here at lake margrethe. Feels very icy underneath but if you happen to be here today you could probably sneak a ride in. I have to put my plow on, just thought I would throw a quicki post on. The guy in the blue sled was Bruce who I hadnt seen in a long time and he was out for a ride yesterday. Thanks for checking in. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Frosty and crunchy at 4 degrees on friday morning in Frederic, I saw the groomer heading out on 47 trail by the high school and 2 sleds right at that corner too. Already been several sleds in this morning and I made an early trip to the Sled Shed to get me some carbides for my ski doo. Those carbides have been on back order all season and I got the last set of 6 inch from Sled Shed. I wanted to make sure I get to ride again. I am happy to say that several riders told me that all trails they were on were well groomed. That is good to hear. The OSSA group were in here yesterday afternoon and they are staying up in Gaylord this year and at least we have great snow this year. Thanks Gary Hines for stopping in with everyone. Already sold the 4 pair of Gauntlets that I had this morning. My frederic-mi.com site is messed up again and Rebecca is on that. I was bummed to see the guys that were winter camping in my back lot left last night. I thought they were staying thru the weekend. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos ... Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Dangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. Wind chills in the 20s below zero; some areas could feel as cold as -30F. This will be dangerous, as frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers. Keep a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded.
Gusty northwest winds plus continued powdery lake effect snow will lead to significant reductions in visibility with whiteouts at times through this afternoon, especially in open areas where snow can easily blow around. Dangerous travel conditions are expected, and wind chills well below zero will be even more problematic if you end up stranded on the road. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyDangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. Grand Marais Trail Report – 02/25

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Outfitters – 2/25

From Phil on the north run last night -8 west is done, it took some heavy cutting, double Grooming and widening out. Plenty of deep fresh snow to throw around. Ran 888 and 88 in 2nd gear. Was Real rough, it’s smoothed out nicely though.

FYI: the east trail WAS NOT groomed last night. Travis had to turn around and come back with the leased Tucker due to a blown track. Thanks to Ben & Julie bringing us a spare track yesterday, we can replace it. Hopefully he’ll be able to get back on the east trail later today. Sorry folks. North was done last night and south and west are being done right now.

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> 8:21:PM Doused the lights at the entrance of 9 again tonight to wait for a group headed to Newberry.
Pray for H2O free diesel, and fracture free Metalergy tonight! 🙏
9:25 Check out this group, they have exiting and getting outta the way of the Groomer down to a Extreme Science! 🥰 ThankYou Very Much! You know who you are 😊
10:08 Lot and Lots of time to ponder things out here, and we see things out here sooner, and better from our picture windows and Lazy Boys, I was wondering how many of you come into corners at a Very respectful safety minded speed only to find a series of Rupp eating craters that had you in an entirely different spot half way around and coming out of that corner?
In and outta Windy Corners, I've done better, not the snows fault, kept loosing my prime, most, very nice, its a personal goal thing.
Intell has informed me we've had help grooming a chunk of 9 tonight, I'll keep you posted 😉
11:43 Yes, we've added a guest 😊 #newberry #snowphotos

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 1/23/26
NEGATIVE 2 degrees this morning and snowing. We picked up around 6" of snow yesterday and another 6 or so last night! It`s down right winter out der! All good news for yesterdays happenings so lets rock-n-roll.....
Groomer Mike C. took off in the morning and headed into da south swamp with just a machine. I took off with a machine and drag and headed south also but skipped the swamp section. Before I got done with the South trail #8, Mike radioed me and said hit the swamp with the drag on my way back. He got it packed in pretty good and it turned out good with the drag. It is only one lane for now but we`ll fix that tomorrow. THE GATES ARE NOW OPEN!!!!
After that Groomer Mike C. headed out on the Falls trail #45 with just the machine and Groomer Glenn pulling a drag following him. They got that trail packed in and groomed, it turned out great!!! Groomer Mike C. put in 12 hrs. in a machine yesterday filling and packing in water holes! Great job!!!
Today we are running the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and the Point trails #452 & #453. Not sure what we are gonna do with the other machine.
So......total green flag for our entire trail system!!!! COME ON UP and enjoy our hard work!!!!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
