CADILLAC AREA UPDATE via Cadillac Winter Promotions >> We have decided to halt grooming operations until Sunday due to these cold temps. Our operators safety is #1. A lot of our trails have no cell service and if a tractor goes down it would be bad for our volunteers. The trails are in very good shape right now still. See you out there Sunday. #cadillac... WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Dangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. Wind chills in the 20s below zero; some areas could feel as cold as -30F. This will be dangerous, as frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers. Keep a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded. Gusty northwest winds plus continued powdery lake effect snow will lead to significant reductions in visibility with whiteouts at times through this afternoon, especially in open areas where snow can easily blow around. Dangerous travel conditions are expected, and wind chills well below zero will be even more problematic if you end up stranded on the road. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyDangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/11
From groomer Warren on his sunrise run this morning. This trail was awesome last night so probably even better today! “889 this morning trails groomed up very well, little sugary in the corners. just be careful🤙🏾🤙🏾” Thanks Warren!❄️❄️❄️
SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/10
Did a quick ride tonight to check the trails out. They are really holding up surprisingly well! Definitely hard and fast and we were hookig up really nice in the corners. I don’t run scratchers and the hottest I got was 145 on pavement. On the trail, I was running about 102 but scratchers may be needed in the coming days.
Here’s where we went and what we saw-
City trail, tunnel to the business spur- good, very few moguls, hard base, some loose corners but overall good. Pic of the road below is what you can expect to see along road sides and crossings.
Trail 8, Soo to Brimley- smooth and flat, very few chatter bumps, really only approaching stop signs.
Getting through Brimley, the road riding is what it is for March. Not too long and not too bad. Shoulders are pretty bare.
889 loop including Mission Hill lookout- great shape, very few hardly noticeable chatter bumps in some corners
Powerline (part of 8 to 480)- smooth, flat, fast
480 to 472- smooth, flat, and tight packed corners
472 to just north of Ploegstra- smooth, flat, corners are holding well.
I know we are often our own worst critics but I couldn’t find anything bad out there tonight other than the couple of spots where we had to ride the road shoulder getting in and out of Brimley.
Get your rides in while you can! Trails are holding up great so far! ❄️❄️

Frostbite can occur in less than 10 minutes on exposed skin in this weather. In addition, visibilities could tank to 1/2 mile or less in the NW wind lake effect, with near-blizzard conditions still possible in the Keweenaw. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea... SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/21/26 Good morning! Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails last night and also 49 down to 7 mile and they turned out great! The little streams behind Kewadin Casino are still flowing (see the video in the comments) even with all of the cold, but our bridges have made a huge difference in there! There is one spot along the Kewadin trail that is soft and we keep filling it in as best we can. Likely a nonissue for the weight of a sled, but worth mentioning. Thank you Bryan and Logan!!❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0121b#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/21/26 Good evening! Groomer Pat hit the Kinross east loop this evening. This is 49 south of M80 and the 494 loop (one of my favorites!) Looking beautiful! Thank you Pat! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0121#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
