SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/20
Happy spring everyone! While there is still a lot of snow in the woods and on the forest service roads, it is highly likely that we are done grooming the trails for the season.
I want to give a huge thanks to all of our volunteers that helped to make this season such a success. From the guys out all year brushing and signing, to the guys that are in the garage day in and day out, to the people working behind the scenes on membership and paperwork, to those out in the groomers at all hours of the day and night keeping the trails smooth- THANK YOU will never be enough!
Also a HUGE thank you to all of the landowners that so generously allow trail access through your property. Without you, this would be a lot less fun and we’d have a lot less access to connect to other areas. Again, THANK YOU is not enough!
Another giant thank you to our commercial members, some who put on fundraisers for us to help us pay for so many things that are not covered by the DNR reimbursement. We really appreciate your efforts and hope to continue to partner with you!
Also a tremendous thank you to all of our club members and to those who made a donation either of time, money, or supplies to our club. We truly could not do it without you!
And last but certainly not least, the reason why we do it. THANK YOU to all of YOU who came and played here. Thank you for supporting our local businesses and economy! WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Extremely cold temperatures and wind chills continue today into Saturday morning while lake effect snow continues over the NW wind snowbelts. Frostbite can occur in less than 10 minutes on exposed skin in this weather. Good morning! Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails last night and also 49 down to 7 mile and they turned out great! The little streams behind Kewadin Casino are still flowing (see the video in the comments) even with all of the cold, but our bridges have made a huge difference in there! There is one spot along the Kewadin trail that is soft and we keep filling it in as best we can. Likely a nonissue for the weight of a sled, but worth mentioning.
