Paradise Area Trail Report – 03/01

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 03/01

3/1/25
2 degrees this morning under a partly cloudy sky. Yesterday was an interesting day for sure….it snowed and blowed all day and was quite nasty out der!!! We did get 6-8" plus with a lot of drifting!!! I got lots of good news and a touch of bad so lets get to it.

First the good. Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails and called them good. Heavy drifting in "siberia" of course.

Groomer Ben hit the Point trails and called them great.

Groomer Gerald ran the Falls trail and called that good.

Groomer Mike C. ran the South trail #8 and called that great…now the bad news part….the swamp south of town opened up big time. He barely made it thru with the groomer and we had to close it down, THE GATES ARE CLOSED, don`t go around them, you will get wet or stuck!!!! The 46 degree day and sunny last Monday really brought the water level up in der. I went thru there on Tuesday with a groomer and broke thru in a lot of places. I then went back on Wednesday with just a machine and spent half the day in there and filled in all the water holes. That lasted just one day and it opened up again….its the high water…..then when Mike went thru there yesterday he barely made it. It just doesn`t make sence to go in there and try and fix it again especially when the temps are gonna rise next week for a few days….sorry…..it sucks. The DNR and law enforcement are aware of the situation. You can ride the UNPLOWED portion of M-123 from the river mouth to the south end of town but the law WILL be watching…UNPLOWED portion is the main word here folks!!!

It looks like March will be up and down on temps (normal) but with all the snow this year the trails will hold up nice. I can see them lasting thru March unless something drastic happens with the temps!

COME ON U.P.!!!! Times a wasting!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

Lake Gogebic Area Trail Report – 03/01

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> 03/01

Bergland Area Groomer’s Report for the evening of 2/28/25.

Current temperature 8°. We had a high temp of around 40° early morning then temp’s dropped. We’ve received 12″+ and still snowing.

Again, light airy snow but welcomed!! Anything we lost during the warmup we regained!! Tonight we sent 2 machines down 8w to Wakefield. One with a drag and one without. All snow bridges remained intact and 💯 groomable and rideable. We do this to get a consistent rotation of operators running again without trouble from swamp’s opening up or whatever other hazards may have developed. This evening we should have a full crew ready to go and will get everything covered. That’s all for now. Thank you Gogebic Area Grooming

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> Hats off to Steve from Hamilton's North Coast Adventures for his hard work and dedication. He ran WITH the drag to groom what we could yesterday.
TRAIL REPORT:
Trail 1 was groomed from LP Walsh Road to Silver City and back with some wet spots North of White Pine. A rider ran up to Lake of the Clouds and advised us that there is a large tree on the trail just past the split to Trail 11 (South Boundary Road). Snow is thin thru the woods in The Porkies, but the wet spots have frozen up nicely.
Thanks for the detailed info, Nick!
Trail 12 was groomed between White Pine and the split to Trail 101. There are some wet spots along the LP Walsh Road, ride with caution. The trail is not groomed or cleared of hazards beyond that split going East to the NCSC Clubhouse.
Trail 101 is in great shape!
Trail 13 from the 101 junction to Rockland is cleared thru and groomed, but narrow in spots, ride with caution.
Trail12/137 (The railroad grade) between Rockland and Ontonagon is in good shape, but Trail 12 going East to Greenland has not yet been cleared.
If you are running Groomer Tracker please keep in mind that some of the groomers are still running with no drags, clearing trail and or rolling and compacting. Please check with individual clubs to get the full scoop B4 you ride. #ontonagon #westernup #snowphotos

WATERSMEET - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club >> UPDATED 12/16/25- We had a groomer go out on our north/ south run giving mixed reviews. The grade going east out of town is thin in spots and needs snow and the area of trail 3 going north from the grade is still a little ruff and needs more snow to fill in the holes so it can start to flatten out. He reported down to Lando to be nice and when you start getting farther north on trail 3 it gets better. Due to the warm up today (Tuesday) we are waiting to send groomer west until Wednesday. We are not on a full grooming schedule yet but trails are starting to shape up good but we could definitely use some new snow. Again because of the storm and early season watch out for small debris in the trails, help us out if you see something please stop and get it off the trail as it will be safer for everyone. As always please ride to the right and ride safe. #westernup ... See MoreSee Less

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Your Sunday evening 12-14-25 Groomer's report from the Bergland Area.
We received around 8"to 10" over the past 2 days from the latest storm. The snow and cold have been helping out tremendously!!
I was waiting to hear from one of our operators out currently who had just groomed 8w to see if thing's had improved but he hasn't replied. However 8w and 1n are currently being groomed.
Today we finally punched through 102. We'll let 102 set up for a day or 2 and run through her again without a drag.
Then 13 from Root Cellar north is the last section to open up along with access trail's. 🤞Mother Nature cooperates! We are moving forward and some sections are beautiful and other's just need time. Thanks everyone! Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos
