Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 02/06
SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/05
Good evening! A much different scene tonight from just 24 hours ago.
Pete was out on the city trails tonight and shared this report-
“Pretty quiet night on the city trails tonight. Saw 2 sleds, and a couple tracks on my return trip. Everything groomed really well. The water holes with the hay behind Kewadin are still holding up great. The trail along the airport has some light drifting. The wooded sections of the trails have some DEEP moguls that I couldn’t get out without dragging too deep. It’s to be expected from the amount of high energy riders we had in town this past weekend.
Overall a nice relaxing groom, much calmer than yesterdays war zone on trail 8………..
Tomorrow I’ll probably head out on my sled to watch Steve go down 49 and groom the trail behind the county building in the section we have not been able to groom yet.
Reminder for riders to please try and avoid spinning tracks on a fresh groom, it destroys our work. Saw a lot of track spinning on my way back from Kewadin.
Have a good night!”
🚨🚨He also saw SXS tracks on the trail from the tunnel to the I500 track. That is NOT a multi use trail. That is an UNSAFE situation. That trail is only 12’ wide and a SXS with tracks is more than half the trail width.🚨🚨
Law enforcement is aware of the issues we are having with SxSs. We’ve given fair warning and had our partners in the ORV community spread the word and yet it continues. They’ll have to deal with the consequences when they are caught. In the meantime, always be prepared for the unexpected.
Big thanks again to Pete for stepping up BIG TIME this week and weekend and to all of our volunteers for their extra hard work for race week!
More snow tomorrow and then a slight warm up that won’t hurt us much. We’ll keep updating! ❄️❄️❄️
