Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/17

Greetings Sledders,

Jeep Cherokee going head to head with Big Ass John Deere tractor on the trail results in Big Ass John Deere tractor winning the confrontation every time. Now let me be clear about this, I didn’t run this guy off our trail, he simply ran out of options and had to exit NOW. I may have inadvertently given this wide eyed gentleman the illusion that I wasn’t about to stop for him and if I did portray that illusion of flattening him like an annoying bug I apologize and it was purely unintentional. Kind of !!

LET’S GO I GROOMED TODAY AND I’M TIRED:

TRAILS:
We picked up a surprising 4-5 inches of LES on Tuesday which helped the snirt situation but didn’t resolve it entirely. Most of the straights are considerably better but the tight corners remain snirty, which of course won’t pass spell check, but I’ll use it just the same. So if you are like the guy that I just got off the phone with that has friends that are adverse to riding in snirty conditions this ain’t the place for you, cause it’s here in places. On the other hand we have the Creed group in that have racked up well over 600 miles in the last three days and have found conditions to be just fine.
That’s the hard part about reporting, what’s fine to some is not so much to others, and is why we try to take the middle of the road on this thing.

WEATHER:
There’s not too much to talk about here except that there’s a possibility of some Sun to shine from time to time over the next week which is never good in snirt situations, we’ll have to wait and see on this one and a lot of that scenario depends on traffic levels, and we’ve got to think that that will be relatively light until after Christmas.
It also looks like there is a potential for an event to happen along about the 24th or so which would boost us into the New Years weekend. Let’s hope.

GROOMING:
We are, and as I’ve said many times in the past, we are better people for it, and we a will continue to do so as long as snow conditions allow. If you are riding on it we are going to continue to groom it, to a point.

Next report Monday.

Cadillac / Baldwin Area Trail Report – Wolf Lake Motel and Resort – 12/17

Hi Everyone, as per the grooming coordinators all trails should be set right now for the weekend, plus the forecast for the weekend sounds good with temps in the twenties and LES snow most days. (If you can believe a forecast). Our guest that we have been here this week have been very happy with all the trails and they are rating the conditions good to very good, but again this is early season riding and the ground is not completely frozen, so trail conditions can change fast with the temp. Almost all the roads are snow covered so getting fuel or food shouldn’t be a problem and there is tons of snow in the woods, so "two trackin" will be fun. THE LAKES ARE NOT SAFE YET.

Rooms and Snowmobile Rentals are available.

We are members of the Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan, Baldwin Trailriders Snowmobile Club, Benzie/Manistee Snowbirds Snowmobile Club, Irons Area Tourist Association Snowmobile Club, Wellston Area Recreation and Tourist Bureau Snowmobile Club, Lake County ORV Club and the Michigan Snowmobile Association, which are the local grooming clubs. I can not thank these guys and gals enough, they do a lot of work for free, so we all can enjoy this sport. I would only think that if someone is complaining about a bumpy trail on Saturday afternoon, come to a couple club meetings and see just what these people do. They would never complain again. Thank you again.
