Boyne Area Trail Report – Mountainside Inn – 12/20

Petoskey Snowmobile Club – 12/20
Current Trail Conditions: Good

Well, we got the warmer weather we asked for. That allowed the snow to pack down into a solid base. The problem now is that we just plain need more snow. We’ve had flurries of an inch or two but we are below the average snowfall for this time of year. Consequently, the groomers are only going out now and then. If we groom too much, it will destroy what little base there is. So, for now, the riding is good but we need more snow before we can call it excellent.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – Evert’s Snowmobile Rentals – 12/20

The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Most trails are snow covered but in early season condition and riders should be aware that there are rocks, stumps, branches and wet areas not yet covered by snow and hazards that have not yet been identified. Any trail usage should be done with extreme care until we have better snow cover.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!

There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle. The protective mat on the PortageLiftBridge between Houghton and Hancock will be installed today or tomorrow. Please drive carefully on the metal grating until the mat is installed…..do NOT use the ice.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
