Gaylord Snow Day – January 18, 2011 – Trails are looking great with the snow we just received. Of course as always the main trail thru the Gaylord area is usually pretty worn due to the fact it’s the one main trail to get to the other trails, so lots of traffic. Great snow!

EXTRA! EXTRA! We have updated our Snow Gauge Report to show the accumulation from yesterday’s storm. The snow currently stands at 9 inches on the ground in protected areas, more where it has drifted and less where it was blown off by the wind that came with the snow.
SNOWMOBILING FANS:
The Groomer is out on the trails for the second time in 24 hours and reports he is leaving a nice trail behind him as he works his way over the trail system on the West End.
East End conditions are poor due to snow being blown off the trails. There are 2 areas that have been plowed down to almost gravel.
INTERNATIONAL ICE BRIDGE TO CANADA: The *building* of the ice bridge will happen on Saturday, January 22nd. Customs officials will begin to man the Island offices full time on January 23rd and the Bridge will officially open at that time.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING FANS: All trails are OPEN! Yesterday’s storm brought much needed snow. The Rainbow Trail system has been groomed. The fresh snow is exhilarating!
SNOWSHOEING FANS: All trails are open for snowshoeing! It’s GREAT to be a Northerner when the snow is fresh and deep!
ICE SKATING FANS: The local rink is open and waiting! Grab your skates, a thermos of hot cocoa and head down to the Townhall. The ice is slick and fast!
